Deer 1 - 2012 GC Overland 0

Big buck leaped from deep center median and impacted left front of my 2012 Grand Cherokee Overland at 1010 AM this morning on I-76 just east of Sterling, Colorado.

Very concerned as radiator appeared pushed into engine block, engine cover broken, right fog and right headlight disappeared, grill destroyed.

Impact was at 75 MPH and witnessed by my wife and daughter who were following in another vehicle. Hood flew up to windshield blocking vision after latch was compromised.

Not sure if Jeep will be totaled or not - afraid what happens next.

Anyone have thoughts? I am really down about this, it had 16,000 miles and was in showroom condition if not better, and most of the mods I wanted to do to the Jeep were done.

I didn't get hurt thankfully.

Ultimate Irony - I just renewed my annual membership about 2 days ago & now I am Jeepless.

So now if it is totalled you have no choice but to get another Jeep.

Glad you weren't hurt.

Re: Deer 1 - 2012 GC Overland 0

The most important thing is that you are OK. You would most likely be hurt or dead if you hit the deer in something smaller and/or closer to the ground. Remember, a car is just a car (or Jeep in this case) and is replaceable, a life is not.

Re: Deer 1 - 2012 GC Overland 0

Glad to hear you're OK! Sorry to see so your Jeep didn't fare as well. Maybe it's a hint you should get a diesel

Re: Deer 1 - 2012 GC Overland 0

I actually thought about the diesel today. I don't know if the GC will be totaled or not, the shop said to expect 3 weeks for repairs and it will be at least 2 to 3 weeks before they could even start fixing it.

Glad you are ok. When you get done cleaning your shorts out, and your breathing has slowed down, I think you will realize this is a sign that you need the new EcoDiesel.

Another weird thing I got an email about "upgrading" Navteq maps this afternoon. Bad mojo!

It is good to read that you are OK. Did any air bags deploy?
