Re: Did Shudder TSB fix a problem?

This may be repetitive, but it is still unclear if the below early August 2010 TSB is a final fix or not for shudder. Anyone have this latest flash done and if so, what is the verdict?

Going through the Engineers chat there was also no response to the questions concerning the delays in cars assembled but parked somewhere for unknown reasons. Could be anything, QL system, shudder, others.

Would be nice to see the fixes in on the majors, can live with the other minor stuff.

Thanks.

Re: shuddering acceleration: who has it?

I really hope they get this totally fixed before long. I am not ready to buy yet, but when I am, I still won't unless this is already taken care of completely.

shutter or stutter?

Not sure which it is with my V6. Seems as times when I accelerate normally I will get smooth acceleration and then it feels like hesitation then kicks in more speed. Not sure if it's just changing into another gear or what. Kind of like I take my foot off the gas and then put it back on. This only seems to happen from a dead stop or slowing for a turn then getting back on the gas.

Re: shutter or stutter?

It is a new car, you are too sensible, trust your car and you will be happy ... I am coming from a jeep patriot and the 5 speed behaves differently than cvt. If you always try to observe the behavior, rotation per minute/ speed/engine noise, you miss the fun of driving a nice car ... My observation:
1) You ca accelerate quite nicely with the engine in the greenzone (below 2000 rpms), engine noise is quite low, however it takes longer ...
2) You can accelerate more strongly with engine going to 3-4000 rpm and you can get to 60-80-100 km/hr very quick and then engine noise and changing gears is more evident ... (no eco mode displayed)
3) on highway, you can accelerate close to greenzone

For me, I like #1 in the city, you don't need to speed up so quickly just to stop at the next light ... and #2 when you get to highway ... I observe something close to your behaviour in scenario #2 if you do not accelerate enough ...

Again, I passed the stage of observing this and it is more fun to drive than being too busy observing all this ... However, I need to be careful because the engine noise is not that evident and if you do not pay attention to your speed, you can easily get a speed ticket. Here in ontario, if you are 50 km over speed limit, they confiscate the car on the spot ... and I think 10k ticket ...

This makes no sense.... So don't pay attention to your car if you think there may be an issue because it will be more fun to drive? Will it be fun when the transmission falls out the bottom of the jeep down the line? When things are new this is tHe most critical time to pay attention so it can be fixed before damage occurs.

For the OP: the term is shudder, not shutter!

Re: shutter or stutter?

Whoa, those are harsh penalties for speeding. Police officer has discretion here to haul driver in if reckless driving or excessive speed. Public safety is a good thing.

All that said, looks like radar detector hard wire is on the list. Heh.

Re: shutter or stutter?

Granted this Jeep is a brand new design, but this is my 5th GC so I'm used to the way it should drive. All my starts are slow to speed no sense in wasting gas when it's almost $3 a gallon. I would think the accelerating should be smoother from 0-30mph without the stutter, shudder or whatever it might be. After that the engine is smooth with no hesitation.

I in no way imply that if there is a problem ,pay no attention. What I tried to say is, all cars drive differently and depending in your current car, it might be difficult to adjust to the new car ... ie for me CVT and 5 speed drive completely different ... if there is something wrong you will know it immediately and should have your car checked ...

Possibly a French speaker. For example, "sensible" makes sense only in French, which in English translates to "sensitive," which does make sense. Whatever, I'm sure his English is far better than my French will ever be!

Re: shuddering acceleration: who has it?

Too many "Shudder" threads...

ADMIN: Can these threads be merged into one? (and at the same time delete the off-topic posts).

THEN... I will post info on a NEW solution for vehicles that were built before July 26th that have had the TSB performed and the shudder is still present, AND for vehicles built after July 26th for which the TSB does not apply but whose vehicles have a shudder issue.
