Re: Did Shudder TSB fix a problem? 2011 Shudder problems thread

i find it hard to believe it is MDS. MDS has been out for awhile and at least on the 5.7the engine is basically the same as in the past so should not be any real changes to it. Something else is screwed up in the software somewhere.

Agreed. Was back at dealership yesterday and they confirmed that they definately feel the shuddering at 40 in my truck. Chrysler again told them it is "normal"

But it could be the MDS. A quick google search brings up an old thread from another forum complaining of the same issue back in 2006

Re: Did Shudder TSB fix a problem? 2011 Shudder problems thread

Mine is not a shudder in the engine it is a shudder in the drivetrain. Mine is definitely not engine related it is a kick/downshift/binding issue in the transmission or axles.

A shudder does not tell me that is is an MDS problem. That would be a miss in the engine to be MDS related.

Unhappy Did Shudder TSB fix a problem? 2011 Shudder problems thread

The new procedure involves replacing the front axle isolator, p/n 52124632AD.
So, Milous (or anyone else that can help)...

What is the answer? Am I missing something here? Why is this still an issue, especially considering that it affects vehicles built up until Jan 2011? Surely this should be fixed during manufacturing if the problem is already well known?
I had a 2006 WK with a similar problem and it drove me nuts! I am not willing to commit to another Jeep if there is ANY chance that I will sit with the same problem again. How can I be sure that I won’t have this problem on my Overland when it arrives?

I voiced similar questions above. Keep in mind that Milous or anyone else really in the know may not be at liberty to discuss this in unofficial capacity.

I realize that, but unfortunately that does not stop me from buying into another problem Jeep.

Thank you for supplying this video, it was reassuring after listening to some of the more negative posts. Makes waiting for delivery a battle of nerves

Item 2) is something I am really confused about: if Chrysler knows this part is bad why not start using good part now? I assume they already have good parts if new TSB is about to be released.
The issue most likely affects a very small number of vehicles. If the failure rate of a part is very low then inventory would not be pulled and discarded, and the revised part would be introduced as a running change. Shudder issues can also be traced to an out of balance driveshaft.

Thanks Milous, sounds plausible enough.

Has this new TSB (with the axle isolator replacement) been released? I don't see it listed on http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_tsb.htm.

It has not been escalated to TSB status. The reference is "Star Case # S1021000002".
