My wife's '07 Honda odyssey had the same issue a year ago. Honda had a "software update" that was suppose to resolve it. It didn't. Honda ended up replacing the torque converter and the problem went away. Her issues were during slight acceleration around 45mph.
Different vehicle, different engine, different tranny.... Same symptoms and same fix.
Does anyone know if there is a specific build date set that is affected by the shudder or is it just a random number of all wk2s out there experiencing the problem ? Sory if this was already stated.
I have a suspicion that all Jeeps can be made to shudder. For me, it is very specific sequence of events to make it happen.
Go 40 mph, flat road (slight hill will make it worse), allows the Torque Converter to lock up (you should feel it or see the rpms drop to around or below 1500rpm), ECO mode should be lit at this point. Give a little gas and you should feel the vehicle load up, if the ECO mode goes out, let off, try it again, get it to where right before the ECO mode is going to turn off. Once you find this point, gouge the throttle, this is where I feel mine. If you go slower than 40 you will drop an extra gear and it won't do it. The faster you go, the less shudder I have experienced.
The worst was going up hill (slightly more load) and all of the above parameters were met.
If you are going down hill I have not been able to replicate it.

I agree with you on the multiple issues idea. It sounds like there are a couple of them. Interesting about Porsche's approach. Depending on how long the lag is that could be a lot better than two seconds of shaking/skipping that occurs in my Jeep.
I see that you have the 5.7L engine as well. Have you had any of these issues?
I'm just offering comment on what I've read here and on other forums. Not all the reported behavior is the same so that leads me to think there's more than one thing going on. I could be completely wrong and it's all a bad batch of TC's or isolators, who really knows?
9000 miles on my 2011 overland 5.7 still shudders like a sob been to the dealer 5 times now. I am now considering the lemon law alternative, will speak to the mediation dept. tommorow
Fixed Mine. I bought my 2011 Overland 4x4 new and when I hit 110,000 miles or so the shudder began to happen (35-48mph as ECO was under slight load and about to switch off). Like most said, if you went into Tow Mode it wouldn’t really happen anymore, but who wants to deal with that. After dealing with it for another 10,000 miles, I found and tried the Lubeguard Shudder Fix on a whim. Well it got rid of the problem for me, and I hope it does for you. Btw, I never got my ECU reprogrammed or updated, so I guess it really was just a additive/fluid problem for me. http://www.lubegard.com/~/C-230/Instant+Shudder+Fixx
I have a 2011 5.7 grand cherokee. When i take off from a stop its ok for about 3 secounds then i feel like a shudder or vinration like feeling thats kinda light after about 3 to 5 secounds more it goes away and is fine threw all gears and driving. If its on snow ground it doesnt do it at all..everyone who rides in the car notices it. Any thoughts on what it could be?
