the update seemed to reduce the shudder but not eliminate. however, i havent felt the rumble in sport mode. which is the only mode i use, for the most part. in auto you can feel it though, its nothing that would make me want to return the veh or not buy it in the first place.....but, im a jeep fanatic so......my opinion might be biased.
What I don't understand is Jeep says how much real world testing the Grand Cherokee went through and that it won't be released until perfect. All that testing and this issue wasn't noticed before?

There's no amount of "real world" testing that will duplicate how thousands and thousands of actual owners will use their vehicles. Yes, I'd think this would have been noticed before, but there's no telling what issues have already been found and fixed before production started.
I have a 2007 4dr JK and it had the shudder prob. Mind was fixed by a new PCM, some by reprogramming the PCM, and others stated they had to get a new tranny to make it go away.
Whatever you say, Ed. The vehicle wasn't rushed out. Chrysler was set to release it in 2009 as a 2010 model, but when Marchionne saw the interior it was going to be released with, it got delayed by a full year to allow for a proper interior to be designed. Furthermore, under Fiat's control this Jeep saw much, much more testing than any Chrysler product in recent decades.

Yea right...That's why there is already a problem with shudder and the dashboard covering separating from the plastic windshield vent ...and let's not mention that many options and colors were delayed and half of you who have already ordered don't really know what equipment your vehicle will arrive with...just read this forum and there is no doubt that Jeep/Chrysler/Fiat is still FUBAR. Don't drink the kool aid from those on this site who have a financial interest in the success of this company.
This vehicle was nowhere near rushed. I'd love to hear why you believe this? Truthfully, it was held back for review, along with the 300 and Dodge Charger, all 3 have been refined, tweaked, and changed further than their original development with Cerberus and Daimler.
Oh, and Chrysler's new Management, courtesy of Fiat, has even had their hand in the new 2011 Sebring and Avenger!
easy ed...Im sure there will be some bugs..as there are with almost all new models of any brand. However, most reviews from a ton of reputable sites are overwhelmingly positive. If you dont want or trust this vehicle...go with another brand. To sit on this site, which is extremely helpful, and bash the car without reason is really unnecessary.
Since I have no financial stake whatsoever in Chrysler, or Fiat, and frankly wish Unions would disappear all together (no offense to any line guys here. .. . just saying). Let me say EASY ED that you have no idea what you are talking about. I have had no problems and have been putting my limited through its paces. Have you driven this vehicle you say was rushed? Have you compared it to other vehicles out there and test drove those? Have you done your research about the testing/eval process that was implemented? I would guess the answer to all of these is no. So before you jump in and talk trash about the wk2 how about proving some credibility and backing up your statements?
I would be more than happy to back mine up:
1989 Jeep Cherokee Limited
2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
2006 Jeep Commander
2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited
Never had a problem, do all my own maintenance, drive a TON of other vehicles in my line of work, and do not drive my vehicles lightly either. I did my research on the wk2 and other similar vehicles. This was far from rushed.
I guess...but if your trying to persuade the small amount of potential 2011 owners that visit this site youre not gonna make very much of a difference....LOL
Can we create thread about Ed problems ... ? we should leave the garbage out of these threads where information and discussions are about a certain topic ...
^^^hehe! Just so you know... Back in the days of cavemen their spears and clubs didn't come with any warranty either! But seriously guys if you have doubts about the vehicle don't buy it, or buy the extended warranty, or better yet do some freakin research rather than bashing the product which I think most people here will defend. You won't get very far doing that on these forums. On the other hand if you have valid squawks that you have found in a vehicle you drove or better yet purchase put them out there but don't create non-existent issues just because.
I've been buying new cars since the early 1970s and every one of them had a warranty, usually the typical 3 years/36 mo. I have never heard of new vehicles not having warranties so I'm not sure what Marlon was referring to.
sorry to take this thread off track... or maybe put it back on (haha) but i had the first version of the TSB executed, and then the SECOND updated version of the TSB executed, and the problem remains.
All i got both times though was a re-flash.
can somebody comment as to whether or not i was due a new DTCM?
anyone know what version of the software would have been flashed for the first TSB? the updated TSB says if the software is "AF" or greater, the DTCM need not be replaced. if it is not, replace it. was "AF" or greater being flashed in the first one? if i had the first TSB executed, does that mean that maybe now i have "AF" when before i didnt, and had i waited would have recieven a new DTCM?
my point is i'm worried that the dealer tried to rush me out with some software when in reality i needed a whole new dtcm for a proper fix.
just trying to figure out how this works... also, ive been screwed by dealerships too many times.
thanks!
