Re: Disabled Seat Belt Chime on 2014 JGC

I couldn't get it to work either. Does anyone have a fix for the door open chime which I think is far worse?

Re: Disabled Seat Belt Chime on 2014 JGC

I think it's already somewhere in the thread, but this worked for me.
1. Get inside car with ignition off.
2. Close doors and buckle seat belt in drivers side.
3. Push the push start button to ACC/Run Mode (do not turn on engine). This means only push the push start button, no need to depress brake, doing so will turn engine on, a big no no.
4. Wait for red seat belt light to turn off.
5. Unbuckle and rebuckle seat belt at least 3 times ending with seatbelt buckled. ( I unbuckled and rebuckled 4 times and it worked)
6. Push the push start button (turns off display). You will hear a single chime if you succeeded.

I owned a Summit 3.0 CRD from 01.07.13 and sell it in Octobre.

Since 3 days I got the 'new' Summit 3.0 CRD.

I disabled it on both cars and work fine!

One thing that I realized today - the ACC stopps now in fact down to 0 km/h but (my first Summit cancelled the ACC with 25 km/h) without wearing belts, it showed me the message, that ACC is unable to acclurate because of not wearing the belt.

Yes, this is far worse, was driving me nuts last night as I was in and out of it.

It is the very first post of this thread.

I have found 3 procedures for it, all very similar, all have been successfully done more than twice in a row, that is, I get the chime and the end of all ways.
None actually work. I test after each time it chimes in case I have actually turned this feature off by doing the procedure.

These are all taken from various postings:

DISABLE SEAT BELT ALARM - 1
1) First get in the Jeep. Close all doors and windows.
2) Turn the ignition to the off position.
3) Then fasten your drivers seat belt.
4) Push the black ignition start button. The seatbelt dashboard indicator light will soon shut off.
5) Within 45 seconds of starting the truck, undo and then reconnect your safety belt three times or more. Once done leave the belt on.
6) Now turn off the truck.
7) Next listen for a bell to go off just once to confirm that the system took the reprogramming of the seatbelt alarm.
8) Your seatbelt alarm should now be turned off. If it didn't take try it again making sure that you did all the disabling steps fast enough.

DISABLE SEAT BELT ALARM - 2
1) get into the car
2) before turning anything on, buckle up.
3) put the car in run mode (meaning press the on/off button twice. once to put it into ACC mode, then second time to put it into run mode where the car performs all its checks. do not keep you foot on the break, as that will obviously turn the car on)
4) after having placed the car in RUN mode, wait until the little red seatbelt symbol disappears, after the car had run through its checks.
5) after the symbol has disappeared, unbuckle and buckle 3 times. make sure to end the 3rd unbuckling with being buckled up.
6) after having performed the unbuckling procedure 3 times, press the on/off button again to turn the car off. (remember, you have never actually started the engine yet).
7) after having pressed the on/of button, you should hear a single "chime". that means the seat belt chine is gone! next time you start the car, there will no longer be any seatbelt sounds.

however, the unbuckled warning will still appear in the cluster every time you start driving from a stand still, but it disappears within seconds. more importantly, there is no more that annoying chime!!!!

DISABLE SEAT BELT ALARM - 3

Actually, I just figured how to fix all the chimes.
Step 1 - Find a pair of pliers;
Step 2 - locate source of chime
Step 3 - Cut the friggin' wire!

I have confirmation now that I was able to disable my annoying seatbelt chime on my 2014 JGC Overland.

I did it following these instructions.

Here it is copied and pasted from page 62:

For front passenger seats equipped with BeltAlert, your
vehicle is equipped to detect when it is occupied. The
BeltAlert warning system is not activated when the
front passenger seat is unoccupied. The BeltAlert warn-
ing system may be triggered when an animal or heavy
object is on the front passenger seat or when the seat is
folded flat (if equipped). It is recommended that pets be
restrained in the rear seat in pet harnesses or pet carriers
that are secured by seat belts and cargo is properly
stowed.
BeltAlert can be enabled or disabled by your authorized
dealer or by following these steps:
NOTE: The following steps must occur within the first
60 seconds of the ignition switch being turned to the ON
or START position. Chrysler Group LLC does not recom-
mend deactivating BeltAlert.
1. With all doors closed, and the ignition switch in any
position except RUN or START, buckle the driver ’s
seatbelt.
2. Turn the ignition key to the ACC/RUN position (do
not start the engine), and wait for the Seat Belt Reminder
Light to turn off.
3. Within 60 seconds of starting the vehicle, unbuckle
and then re-buckle the driver’s seat belt at least three
times within 10 seconds, ending with the seat belt
buckled.
4. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position. A single
chime will sound to signify that you have successfully
completed the programming.
NOTE: Watch for the Seat Belt Reminder Light to turn
on while the seat belt retracts and turn off while re-
buckling the seat belt.

BeltAlert can be reactivated by repeating this procedure.

I was a little confused because we have a push start button. So to dumb it down for everyone, here is what I did.

The problem I ran into was that I kept turning the engine on. So whatever you do, do not turn the engine until after you have finished programming. The key is to leave your car in ACC/Run mode.

Good Luck guys.
Well i gave it a shot on my 2012 overland and it actually worked so thanks a lot :-)

It worked on my 2013 Overland. It does obstruct the message center wit the warning of seat belt unbuckled which is a bit annoying. Won't miss the chime though.
