Re: Does anyone else have this happen?

I have the same issue with the A/C being on when I start up and here's what the manual says:

"The air conditioning compressor operates in mix, defrost, or a blend of these modes, even if the air conditioning (a/c) button is not pressed. This dehumidifies the air to help dry the windshield. To improve fuel economy, use these modes only when necessary."

This makes sense for me because I usually leave the defrost or mix on (no recirc). I tested it by switching to the panel and when I restarted a few hours later, no a/c light. I personally would prefer the a/c compressor not default to being on during start up if I've left it in Mix mode. I'd rather select a/c then have to deselect it if this is in fact the way it is supposed to operate.

Re: Does anyone else have this happen?

Thanks Dryfly, I'll have to try playing around with the vent modes again to see if it makes a difference. I guess it really isn't a big deal, just kinda strange that they would just program it to be on as a default in a non-automatic climate control system.

Re: Does anyone else have this happen?

It sounds like the only difference between the manual system and the automatic system in regards to the A/C being on with the defroster is that the A/C light on the auto control panel doesn't light up while the light on the manual control panel does. The A/C is on with the defroster in both systems.

Re: Does anyone else have this happen?

Well, I experimented with having the vents selected vs. mixed mode vs. floor only, and the A/C comes on with all. Probably will just bring it up with the dealer on my first oil change. No biggie. I appreciate all the input from you all!
