Door speaker not working

I have a 2015 Altitude. I bought it on July 4th, so I've owned it just around 2 and 1/2 weeks now. I've been back to the dealer 3 times now for my right front door speaker not working at all. I have the standard 6 speaker set up, with the Uconnect system.
The first time i took it in for the issue, at less than a week old, I was told the speaker shorted out, and they will need to order me a new one. I took the Jeep back about a week later, and the next tech tells me that the speaker is fine, there was just a loose connection. The speaker works until the next day. I take back again last night, and now I'm being told the radio is bad. As I'm discussing this with the tech, he tells me when the door panel is off, the speaker works. They put the put the panel on, it stops working. Now, I haven't worked as a mechanic in about 15 years, but common sense says, when the door panel is installed, its breaking the connection somehow/somewhere. But he insisted that the radio isn't supplying power to the speaker. So next week will be trip 4 for the same issue. Keep in mind, the truck still has a temp tag on it, and I haven't even made the first payment.
My question is how should I handle this with the dealer? I know this radio replacement isn't going to work. And even if it does, I think its absolute BS that I have been back 4 times in less than a month a brand new vehicle with less than 800 miles on it.
Thanks for listening to my ramble . Needless to say I'm pissed, but I really do love this thing.

Re: Door speaker not working

Call Jeep customer service and explain the issue. You can also look into lemon laws for your state.

Door speaker not working

Call customer service and file a formal complaint and have them open a case ASAP. They will contact your dealer and hopefully push things along to get whatever is wrong fixed. I would tell them you want something in return for all the time you lost going back and forth to the dealer... a 3yr service contract would be a good starting point for things to ask for. Essentially its a credit that you can use towards oil changes and such at the dealer. Its tied to your VIN number so any dealer will recognize it.

Believe me, i dealt with them and a regional rep for over 7 months regarding my previous 2014 Altitude with only 2800 miles. I was able to get a lifetime max care warranty (zero deflectable), 3yr service contract (oil change credits), 7yr road hazard (wheel & tire) contract and activated the navigation. All were added to my new 2015 Altitude at no charge to me. They even absorbed the MSRP difference between the 2014 and 2015 Altitudes, $1450.

If you have ANY questions about the process for opening a case please PM me and i will share everything i went through with you. I am fairly knowledgable with their process and what to say to make things happen.

Re: Door speaker not working

Just to update, the new radio did not fix the issue. I sat in the dealership yesterday for over 3 hours before they finally got me a rental. They now have the dash out of my Jeep trying to find the 'electrical issue' I called today to get a status since they've had it over a day. The service manager told me they have a call into Chrysler for guidance, because they don't know whats wrong. Again, I haven't even made my first payment. The temp tag expires on Aug 2nd. Oh, and they don't have my tags in yet. Turnersville Jeep, in Turnersville NJ if anyone is wondering. Anyone know the Lemon laws in NJ by chance?

Re: Door speaker not working

I'm not familiar with your lemon laws
But I would be asking about a brand replacement or money back that's your call.

Look in your owners manual I believe there's a lemon law card you can fill out to start the process

Good luck and keep us posted

Jon

Re: Door speaker not working

I finally got it back last night. The dealers said it was a broken wire behind the kick panel. Dont know if I buy that, but what ever. I'm just happy to have it back with the speaker working. I can honestly say though, I dont think I will ever be back to that dealer again. So, I hope this will be my last 'complaining' post, lol! I really do love this thing.
