Re: Doors DO NOT lock when inside with Key fob!

I tried it with my rental Wk2 Limited. I could NOT open the door if my wife locked it from the inside (using the button on the armrest) with the FOB inside. (The engine was off).

LOL... Well we dont try to catch cat naps all that often BUT I have had to stop for rest a few times in my life... Its better to pull over and take a nap then to fall to sleep at 70+MPH...

Perhaps I should have used a different sinario... Bottom line, our doors do not lock when we are inside the vehicle. We would like the doors to lock for MANY reasons other than trying to sneak a nap at a truck stop.

We will have it looked at this weekend.

Thanks for the input guys... Its good to know its just ours that does not lock when we are in it.

SPEED SAFE, NICK

Thats good... Im glad everyone is checking... it would be unforuntate if someone had this issue and could not keep an attacker out.

Thanks for bringing this to the group's attention. I just went out and tested. Manually locked the door using the inside button, while the fob was in my pocket, and my son was unable to open the door from the outside. Made my wife and daughter--and ME-- feel much better.

Good luck getting this resolved.

Re: Doors DO NOT lock when inside with Key fob!

I also was unable to unlock the door from the outside while the key fob was inside the Jeep. There were other posts stating people who got locked out after leaving the fob inside and shut the door while the lock had been engaged, so the sensors should not work unless the keyfob is outside the Jeep and within five feet of the door you are trying to unlock.

Re: Doors DO NOT lock when inside with Key fob!

OK... Update...

After hearing everyone going out and testing, I decided to do it again but this time leaving one Key Fob in the house... We tried it again but had the wife take her KEY FOB inside and leave it in the house. I locked the door and when she came out she could not open it.

BUT... when both keys are in the vehicle the doors can still be opened from outside.

Since we both carry a Key Fob... And we do tend to go places together, both key fobs are and will be in the vehicle at the same time quite often so this is still an issue... anyone can still open the door from the outside if BOTH key Fobs are in the vehicle.

So I do feel better that when she is alone she can lock the door... BUT if we are together and both Key fobs are in the vehicle... the doors can not be locked...

So if you have more than ONE family member who carries a Key Fob, and they are in the vehicle with you... You may not be able to lock the doors.

Thank you all for your responses... they have helped me narrow down the actual issue we are having because we BOTH have Key Fobs and we do ride together often.

I would suggest everyone do a test with both Key Fobs in the vehicle and attempt to lock yourself inside... This would simulate two people each with a Key Fob inside... You SHOULD still be able to lock the doors from within. We cant.

SPEED SAFE, NICK

I suggest you buy a firearm my friend, then you actually wait for someone to try that on you or your wife

I honestly feel this is a big issue that needs addressing.

Mine doesn't work like that, if the key is inside the handle doesn't unlock it unless a second key fob is sensed by they outer proximity senor.

Ok, so I just placed both key fobs inside the car one on the passenger seat and the other on the driver seat then I rolled down the window and shut the door and leaned in to lock the door from the switch. I was still unable to unlock any door from the outside while both fobs were inside the Jeep.

There is a whole bunch of people in this country should have no business owning a firearm, just like that idiot that shot and kill the female deputy officer on new years day,and she left 2 kids behind without a mother.
May her soul rest in peace.

I agree, but the criminals will always have weapons. You dont want to be a victim.
