Re: Doors DO NOT lock when inside with Key fob!

Firearms don’t kill people ... People kill people... You want to see less crime... Issue EVERYONE a weapon with live ammo! That’s the day when you will see people start respecting one another again because it puts everyone on a level playing field, and you will see the crime rate drop. You would be less likely to attempt to rob someone if you KNEW they had a weapon on them. When you prevent regular people the right to defend themselves from ARMED thief’s you only help increase the crime rates because you can bet no such law will keep the firearms out of the hands of the bad guys.... just out of the hands of those who obey to the law.

Brake into my home un-invited... you will catch a lethal dose of lead poisoning. Can you say "Click Click BOOM"! But the Shot gun is a bit large for the Jeep...

Either way... My door locks just are not right...I need to get to the dealership to have them take a look at it.

SPEED SAFE, NICK

BUT... when both keys are in the vehicle the doors can still be opened from outside.

Since we both carry a Key Fob... And we do tend to go places together, both key fobs are and will be in the vehicle at the same time quite often so this is still an issue... anyone can still open the door from the outside if BOTH key Fobs are in the vehicle.

So I do feel better that when she is alone she can lock the door... BUT if we are together and both Key fobs are in the vehicle... the doors can not be locked...

So if you have more than ONE family member who carries a Key Fob, and they are in the vehicle with you... You may not be able to lock the doors.

Thank you all for your responses... they have helped me narrow down the actual issue we are having because we BOTH have Key Fobs and we do ride together often.

I would suggest everyone do a test with both Key Fobs in the vehicle and attempt to lock yourself inside... This would simulate two people each with a Key Fob inside... You SHOULD still be able to lock the doors from within. We cant.

About that...
When you had both key fobs inside, only you were inside in the driver side correct?
If the jeep senses only one seat being occupied but the other seat (passenger side) is not but both keys are inside it might think one of the key owners still outside and needs to get in, but if both seats are occupied with both key fobs inside it should stay locked from the outside. Just an idea.

It should not matter, I had both key fobs in the jeep with nobody in it and I could not unlock the doors from the outside. I think atleast one of the fobs must outside and within five feet of the door to unlock it, that's how is is supposed to work. I think th OP has an problem that needs to fixed, the doors should not unlock unless the fob is outside and within five feet.

Re: Doors DO NOT lock when inside with Key fob!

Maybe the fobs need to be in the right pocket of the driver, and left pocket of the passenger, so the car knows they are truely inside and not "on the fence." Did you try that?

Re: Doors DO NOT lock when inside with Key fob!

I read this thread with interest thinking maybe there was a problem ... Then it turned into another gun control thread...

The majority of responsible gun owners, myself included, realize that with owning a gun, or several, comes great responsibility. Going through life scared sh$tless of your fellow man is a sad way to live indeed.

Please keep the political bs and name calling to yourselves.

This thread is 2 years old. What was the outcome of the original problem? Was it a programming problem?

Re: Doors DO NOT lock when inside with Key fob!

The OP must have an isolated issue

When I first got my car I played with all of those scenarios because I wanted to know what was possible and what was not in terms of keyless entry.

The vehicle has 4 sensors.

ONe in the dash (this detects that a key is present in the vehicle)

One in the left driver door

One in the Right passenger front door.

One in the lift gate.

sensors in the door only read far enough for you to open the particular door from the outside

So Even when I am standing on the left side of the vehicle with the fob in hand the passenger can not open the right front door because it is not registering the fod on that side of the car.

I have exited the vehicle with the fob in pocket with the engine running and locked the door from the outside it is also possible to do this with the just the Accesory activated to charge a phone or a laptop

Even with both keys in pocket in the car sitting in the back seat no one can open the doors from outside once the either front door lock button has been pressed.
