Downloading phonebook from Blackberry 9900 problems

Hey Guys,

I've got a Blackberry 9900 that I can't seem to get its phonebook downloaded into the Overland's UConnect system.

It says it's downloading but never finishes even if I'm on the road for an hour at a time.

If it's just not meant to be...can I add some of my key contacts manually?

I guess no one knows.

How about my second question?

Can I add contacts/phone numbers manually to the UConnect system? I couldn't find anything in the owners manual on it.

UConnect doesn't store your contacts.
Those are left in your RIM.
When you voice dial, it tells the BBY to dial the number from the contact list in the BBY, and may be fussier than BBY is about the formatting.

Are yours stored as "Contacts" with first name then last name?
They can have Mr, Mrs, and possibly "Undecided" in front of the name, then will need to have Work, Home, numbers separated. Doesn't seem to care if preceeded by "1" or not.

My BBY is tied to a work LDAP server any anything on it from that server works by voice dial, but it also allows me to enter private ones for businesses and personal contacts I call a lot.

Can you voice dial the numbers using a bluetooth earpiece, or the built in mic/speaker on your BBY?

I don't know, I've never tried. I'll get back to you on that.

If uConnect doesn't store my phonebook contacts, what's it doing when it says "Downloading Phonebook" on the screen.

Haha....it's the smartphone of choice for President Obama, the US military & all of your national security agencies because of its near bulletproof encryption.

Re: Downloading phonebook from Blackberry 9900 problems

I have the same problem. Certain phones just won't work with U Connect. There is a list online of the phones that will work with U Connect on U Connect's website. The phone will still work but you have no address book or voice req function. My old phone worked but my new one doesn't.

Can you manually type in and save numbers? I have the RHR radio.

Same here. My wife's old Blackberry works fine with the Jeep but my newer model won't.

A mostly obsolete, but more secure, semi-smartphone with an available real keyboard brought to you by the same folks that provide the operating system that sits behind UConnect.

Or, a badge of honor for those of us who despise the iPhone cultists.
