Dreaded red lightning bolt on dash
Just wanted to share my recent experience with "The dreaded red lightning bolt"
On Wednesday I went to move my jeep and out of the blue the I got the red lightning bolt on the dash and it would not start. After a few minutes I tried again and it started. I did not think much of it as I was also low on gas. Fueled up and took it home. The next morning it started fine, so I went about my business. That evening after work I tried to start it but it wouldn't start. After about 20 minutes it finally started, drove it home and parked it.
Today I took it to the dealership, only to learn that the "TIPM" (totally integrated power module) was bad. They told me my experience was minor in comparison to others. Most have experienced random electronic activity (wipers, horn, lights radio, fuel pumps turning on while car is off), car shutting down while driving.
Anyway this experience will set me back about $1500.
Just figured I would share since I could not find much info on it myself
I also found that there is a class action lawsuit on this... Hopefully it becomes a recall and I can get my money back
