I called the dealer right away and they said its ok to drive unless there was a check engine light and made me an appointment for today. Reading other posts I see a lot of issues around from the rear shocks I thought it might be that. I just got a call from Tuttle click in Irvine CA and they said they had bad news. Turns out the driveshaft needs to get replaced and is on back order with no ETA. They say the driveshaft is causing the noise but the shuddering is from a joint related to the driveshaft that exploded.

They are expecting to have my Jeep for at least 2 weeks. I'm on the phone with Chrysler right now getting a rental car arranged as they say the car should not be driven anymore.

I don't have any other details on it the exact parts yet, I'll go to the dealer later today to get the rental and try to get more info.

Anyone else experience anything like this? All I kind find points back to the shocks and the dealer said they haven't seen this problem. Fortunately the tech felt it as soon as they took the truck and it's under warranty.

I just took my 2011 overland 4x4 hemi in for the same exact thing. 60k miles. They said it will be a week while it's in the shop. Thank god for the power train warranty. Did it fix your problem?

Re: Driveshaft getting replaced 2013 overland

They finally got the part after having the truck for 30 days. They replaced the driveshaft and its been perfect since then. That was about 7,000 miles and 6-7 months ago. What made you take it in? Mine was shaking on acceleration and a clunking noise on slow speeds.

I took it in for the 60K mile maintenance. Iv always been weary of having differential fluid changed since they are their own self contained systems. But went ahead and did everything. $1000 later on a road trip through the back woods of AL, I found that it was running rough. The shuddering feel that you describe. Breaking was also rough. Decided to take it back to the dealer because it wasn't doing that before I took it in. if I'm paying $1000 in maintenance that thing better be running like brand new.

I had the tech ride with me when I got to the dealer. Didn't give the service lady any other options in that regard. Wanted to show them strait up without the "we couldn't duplicate it" Shenanigans.

Re: Driveshaft getting replaced 2013 overland

reviving an old thread - I am having this same issue on a 2013 overland with less than 40,000 miles. The dealer says it is the driveshaft and when cold it shakes the entire car when accelerating, along with a loud "clicking/rattling" noise.

When it it warms up, it still makes the noise and has slight shuddering on acceleration that is also getting worse.

I have an appointment tomorrow morning to get the driveshaft replaced and I hope that it fixes the issue. I will report back with my findings.
