Re: Drivetrain noise when put in gear

What year, model, how many miles?

The ZJ often sounded like someone hit it with a sledge hammer on changing direction once it built up a few miles.

A 45K mile WK2 doesn't seem to do this...

Well Matt I would have to say no...
Transmission clunking of any kind can't be normal. I've owned a 2011, 12, and currently a 15 that pretty much covers all Chrysler transmissions and never any noise from them. A software update might help if you haven't already done it.

Re: Drivetrain noise when put in gear

As your last post implies; I think your idle RPM's are too high. Believe they are computer controlled butÖ.?

Re: Drivetrain noise when put in gear

Well i took the jeep the the dealer and it had a tcm fault so they updated my software and the shifting and noise is gone so far. But... this morning my instrument cluster went out . All that works is the non lcd lights and turn signals . I have to drop it off at the dealer about 12:30 today. Wow what a terrible way to start the weekend .
