Re: DRL Burned/discolored sockets

I know the thread is aging but I was amazed to find that the brake/tail socket on our 04WJ is all burnt looking and burnt smelling.
So this kind of nonsense has been going on with these trucks for a L O N G time....
I keep very detailed logs and can guarantee that VERY oddly enough I have never replaced these bulbs in this 93k mile truck.

Funny....none of the sockets in my many SJ's OR XJ's have EVER looked like that.

It's not the bulbs folks. It's the "improved" design of the sockets / electrical systems.

Re: DRL Burned/discolored sockets

So has anyone on this thread managed to get the socket and light housing replaced under warranty? My sockets are burned to a crisp and the reflective coating above the light is milky color like its been exposed to excessive heat.

I have exactly the same and have seen it on lots of other GCs. I have complained numerous times to two different dealers but the reply is that Jeep Australia does not cover it on warranty. Some other people have got new headlights though, so it depends how the dealers handle it.

Re: DRL Burned/discolored sockets

Before i traded my JGCO it had this problem too. It also had like a weird burn look inside the housings just above the lamp from the heat.

Dealer told me it was not a warranty issue because it did not affect the function of the DRL's. LOL

Complete joke. One of many reasons I traded the Jeep before end of warranty.
