DRL: When do they turn on?

I'm nor quite sure my DRL's are working. The other day I parked in front of a glass window and it looked as if my driver's side DRL was not working. When I got home I kept the car running (parked outside in broad daylight) and I didn't see any DRL period. I put the parking break on and put it in drive, thinking it had to be in drive to make them activate, still nothing. I could use any advice or expertise. When do these lights actually turn on?! Thank you. ~Mark

If it is in a drive gear with the engine running, they should be on.
I usually check mine off the reflection from the minivan or Volvo
sleeping in front of me...

Re: DRL: When do they turn on?

I know some cars turn off DRL with the parking brake as well. Easiest way to say for sure is to be in drive, no parking brake, and someone else telling you whats on or not.

Re: DRL: When do they turn on?

I went through the same thing a year ago. What I found was that if the headlight switch is set to 'auto', the Jeep must be in gear with the parking brake off.

I had someone sit in the Jeep with the car in drive and her foot on the brake to verify they were working.

See many MY11-13 with a burned out DRL. Both of mine burned out within 2 years.

Re: DRL: When do they turn on?

my jeep does not have the led drl and mine was not working either, so i went into the settings and turned them on and it works now

Automatic Headlights If Equipped
This system automatically turns the headlights on or off
according to ambient light levels. To turn the system on,
rotate the headlight switch to the A (AUTO) position.
When the system is on, the Headlight Delay feature is
also on. This means the headlights will stay on for up to
90 seconds after you turn the ignition switch to the OFF
position. To turn the automatic headlights off, turn the
headlight switch out of the AUTO position.
NOTE: The engine must be running before the headlights
will turn on in the Automatic Mode.

I was thinking that same thing(mine are intermittent). Will the green dash light be illuminated either way?

I think the green dash light only indicates headlights, not drl's.

To my surprise there was no notification on the "all knowing" EVIC. The first one out was noticed by a friend ahead of me leading me to bar, I mean lunch place, in the country. I noticed the other one was out when I pulled up to plate glass window at the dry cleaner.

Do you get a green light on the dash when they are on?
BTW I talked to my dealer about it and he said they see it a lot but it usually is just corrosion. So I took my passenger side out to look and the socket has a noticeable brown (looks burned) ring around the edge. I pulled the bulb and the filament is intact so I put some dielectric grease on the base of the bulb (where it makes the electrical connection). DOubt it will work but I would like my DRL's back
