Re: Dual Pane sunroof and sunshade questions

2014 Overland. Mine are backlit. Would have driven me nuts if they weren't.

Are they tied to the dimmer control for the rest of the light cluster? My wife is not here right now but I want to check hers when she gets back

I believe they are, and please note my earlier correction post today -- mine are backlit.

Mine ARE backlit. How the dealer and I both got that wrong, I have no idea. My apologies for wasting electrons and your time.

I'm thinking maybe it was relatively dark out but not dark enough for the lights to have gone on yet on Auto, or they were set to Off. Just guessing, because I don't remember the circumstances.

Re: Dual Pane sunroof and sunshade questions

I know that with my '15 Limited with the Panoramic SunRoof, the brightness of the sunroof/shade controls is tied to the dimmer thumbwheel, but they will not turn off from the thumbwheel, even on the detent at the bottom that turns off all the cabin lights. The only time they turn off in my vehicle is then when the headlights are off.

I had to go test it just now because I was curious.

I already had one run-in with that thumbwheel when I brought the JGC home from the dealer. I couldn't figure out why they'd make a vehicle that the cabin lights didn't come on with the door opening. It turns out that I had turned the thumbwheel to the bottom detent to dim the console as much as possible to save my night vision since I was driving at night. After reading the manual, I came to learn that the detent at the bottom is "party mode", so you can leave all your doors open and the cabin lights stay off. "It's not a bug, it's a feature!"

Re: Dual Pane sunroof and sunshade questions

just got '15 gc summit. love the vehicle, but not really loving the sun roof.

i opened it on a perfect sunny cool day on saturday, and even with the wind deflector up normally, i had that bad 'buffeting' sound that's hard on the ears. had to close the sun roof in less than a couple of minutes to avoid going mad.

i know some cars do better when windows are open in addition to the sun roof, is this one of them?

Yes, crack the rear windows an inch and the buffeting goes away.

Re: Dual Pane sunroof and sunshade questions

Since this thread is about Pano roof issues, I have one...now. I was closing the shade this morning (45 degrees F) and the darn cover started to buckle. I opened it back up and left it to sit in the sun. Anyone else have this happen and if so, what is the fix?
