Easy entry/exit seat feature inquiry

Greetings everyone,

I recently bought a used 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland. I was exploring the easy entry/exit seat feature and noticed that when I turn off the engine the seat as well as the steering column move out of the way. However, when I return to the car only the seat comes back to its original position and steering column doesn't! Is this the way it is supposed to work? In my other vehicle, a Lexus, the seat as well as the steering column return automatically to their set positions.

The owner's manual is not clear on this aspect.

I would appreciate your feedback on this issue.

Re: Easy entry/exit seat feature inquiry

Both are supposed to come back to the position.
Do you have your memory settings set?

Thanks for your reply.

Both seat and steering memory are set and both work correctly. When the easy exit feature is activated the steering column does not come back to any of the memory positions, even if I push any of the memory buttons.

2011 I guess wont do it. From 2012 to now it does.

Mine is a 2012 and mine doesn't change at all unless I manually change it. Is this a option?

If you haven't done so already, redo the memory settings. It might save you a trip to the dealer. Try both 1 & 2 and see if there is a difference.

If you have an Overland it's possible. I've never tried, but I'm aware my 2012 Overland has this capability. Not something I want to have 'on' though and I've never even tried to set it up. It's an option you can select in the EVIC menu.

I checked the owner's manuals for '12 and '13 and they both include no further info than what the '11 manual has. They all refer to the seat but no mention of the steering column!

Is it possible that the steering column is not meant to move?

Easy exit on my 2011 Durango, 2012 Charger and 2014 Summit only moves the seat all of the way back. I do not recall the steering ever moving when shutting the vehicles off. In my experience the steering wheel only moves when the memory buttons are pressed or you grab the other key fob (key fob 1 vs 2) and start the vehicle. This would affect the radio and mirrors also depending on the options package.

Easy entry/exit seat feature inquiry

My 2014 Overland moves the seat back and steering up when i turn off the engine and when i hit the start button both go back to memory position. Works like a charm. If your car does not do it will reccommend that you disconnect the negative cable from the battery for a few minutes.

Cool. Didn't know the Jeep does that. Never noticed it move. If mine doesn't work it's fine because, even being a big guy, I never get hung up in the wheel on the way in and out of any vehicles. But I do want to see if it does it. Thanx for the info.
