Easy Exit Steering Wheel Not Working

2015 Limited with Lux II Package...

My easy exit seat works, but not the easy exit steering wheel. It is "stuck" in the raised position.

I searched around here, tried moving the seat forward and backwards to reset that, tried pulling fuse F82 for an hour to reset the steering wheel electronics, figuring to let any capacitors discharge.

I can telescope the wheel just fine, but it does not move up and down. When I move the switch up or down, I can hear the relay engage, and after a few seconds click off. The steering wheel is just stuck in the raised position.

Anyone have some advice about another way to reset? Should the car be off, in ACC, or running?

I tried the seat reset with the engine off, on, and acc position.
I tried moving the wheel in and out like the seat with the engine off, on, and acc position.

I pulled the 10A fuse F82 for the SCCM, let it sit for 2 hours, didn't work.
I pulled the 30A fuse F24 for the Driver Door Module for 5 minutes, didn't work.
Was hoping for capacitor discharge, no luck.

I tried turning on and off the Easy Exit and doing the seat reset procedure, no luck.
The wheel telescopes, but will not move up and down, with our without the memory system.

Next, should I try pulling fuses for the Body Control Modules or just disconnect the battery for a bit?

I am dreading this because of the blatantly incompetent morons at the dealership, and the requisite 4 trips it will take to fix, just like every single other issue I have ever had with my previous 4 Grand Cherokees. Once to troubleshoot and order parts, second visit to not fix it and be told they have to order more parts, and third to finally fix it, then the always extra-special fourth visit to fix something they screwed up or didn't reattach properly.

Anyone from the NYC area who has ever dealt with Manfredi Jeep (Now Island Jeep) will know EXACTLY what I am talking about. Biggest clown show of a service department on the planet.

It's easier to trade in the car and get a new one.

Hehe... Happen to know something about it. Every time I have to go there I stock up on Rolaids. Makes me question buying MaxCare ...

Found fuse F87 is another Steering Control Module, along with some other accessories, tried pulling that and then doing the reset procedure.

Any thoughts or ideas to try are welcome...

Go through the entire process I mentioned above, doing the reset procedure on the drivers seat as well as pulling the fuses I said.

If that doesn't work, it needs to go to the dealer.

Mine ended up being a "loose wire".

Mine was there for 3 days, as it always is for any and all repairs. Day 1 to look at, Day 2 to wait for parts, Day 3 for the fix, followed by the traditional phone call an hour before they close to tell me I had to come get it before they close.

They were even nice enough to park it outside on the street overnight up the block from the dealership in front of someone's house. I guess they forgot about the vehicle locating included with UConnect. I even went and took some pictures of it on the street at night so in case of any damage I had a leg to stand on.

Sounds like its simply broke. Dealership visit it is I would imagine. Haven't had that issue though on any of my WK2s. 2012 Overland, 2014 Summit, and now 2015 Overland HA. Also worth noting, I do not use easy exit feature simply because I think moving the seat all the way back is a goofy idea. Nothing like crushing anyone sitting behind you lol. It would be nice if the feature maybe only moved the steering wheel in and up instead of both the wheel and seat.

I sort of had the same problem... My Easy/Exit Seats AND Steering wheel wouldn't move, nor would the Driver Memory settings work.

Took it to the dealer, they said they replaced a calibration sensor and everything works fine now. All under factory warranty!

I had the same issue, ended up that the tilt steering had went a bit past its stop point and got into a bind...

I despise dealing with the dealers service dept and honestly don't have the time anyway. (Have tried 5 different dealers over the years, eventually gave up... While under warranty, if I can fix it myself and spend less than $100, I'm doing it).

Dove in one Saturday morning, pulled the tilt motor and gearing out, made sure everything aligned and put it back in... Solved. About 2 hours worth of work.

Had it been a loose wire I could have solved that in the same time as well but I wonder if they just tossed that out as an excuse because they didn't really know what caused it.

I just had this same issue on a 2015 high altitude. tried cycling fuses, battery connections. Finally loosened the tilt motor disconnected and reconnected and voila!! All works now. Does anyone know where the limit switches are? they may be thermal or current limiting. The tilt did go dead after three quick entry/exits with the stupid easy entry feature "on" so it may have gotten hot, but it seemed just to go too far up during the raising of the wheel during easy-exit. I'd like to adjust the limit switch if there is one so that can't happen. I disabled the easy entry to reduce load on what is obviously a "marginal" system.

Thanks Forum !!

Had the same problem with everything working except the power tilt (I could hear the click from the module under the seat but no action). Steering wheel was stuck in the raised position. I just got the update prompt for the UConnect update yesterday morning (Ver. 17.11.07) so I installed it last night. Got into my Jeep this morning after letting the update finish installing and tried the tilt just for the hell of it and wouldn't ya know, it now works. Granted, I have yet to get back in it after work to see if everything goes to their proper settings but I would say, if you haven't done it yet (and are still dealing with this problem), installing the update appears to have helped.

My 2016 75th anniv. just started doing this yesterday!!! Seat works fine, but steering wheel wont go up or down. Dealer appointment next week on wed. for recall, oil change and speedo recalibration, (bigger tires). Calling dealer in morning to make sure they can fix it. Going to try to find the tilt motor before work in the morning... Very annoying to drive...

The tilt motor is located on the steering column assy on the forward LH side above the knee airbag. Suggest you disconnect the negative battery terminal and allow 2 minutes or more for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before working in that area. Just a thought

I had the same problem, stuck in the up position. I loosened the leather shroud around the base of the the steering column. Took a flash light and could see the motor which is 90 degrees to the steering wheel. The connector for the motor is on the back side. I was able to reach in with one hand and feel under the motor and gently depress the tab to release the connector and back it out. It is a custom connector and asymmetrical so, try not to back it out too far. Wait 30 seconds and then reconnect it. A bit tricky and takes a bit of finesse, but worked like a charm. Saved myself 1/2 day at the dealership.

I just had this same problem start with my 2015 Summit last night totally random. I usually have the auto exit enabled for the wheel to raise and lower, and when I went to get in the rig while running an errand, it wouldn't budge from the top position. Like others, the wheel would telescope in and out but not up or down. I had to drive home with the wheel all the way up and that was really awkward. I found this thread this morning, and was ready to start yanking fuses, etc. but I seem to have a bit of luck.

The wife and I went to Costco this morning and the car sat in the lot about an hour and a half. When we got back to it and I started it up, the wheel wouldn't budge. Halfway home I said what the heck and tried it with the button and bingo it moved all the way down where I like it. I decided right there when we pulled into the driveway that I was going to disable auto exit before turning the car off to keep the wheel in the down position.

I think I will just leave it there and hopefully avoid a service call at least for now.

I just took my car in for this. You need to pull the covers off under the wheel and tap the motor with a hammmer. Then go into the profile settings and turn the easy entry/exit feature off. Get the wheel in the right position and then don't touch it. If you accidentally put it up all the way, it will probably get stuck and you will need to tap the motor again. You can't replace the motor as it's welded on the column. You have to replace the entire column which is $2600 so just tap dat.....

So I had the problem the steering wheel not wanting to go up or down it was all the way in the down position I used my knee several times to try and push on it while using the power button and it did not work. I got frustrated and after hearing comments of it being past the rest point /off track. Or loose wire. I heard it trying to move but nothing would happen when applying the power button up or down I simply gave it a couple good smacks with my fist on the wheel upward while applying the button up and it fell back in track and works fine now.
