ECO mode default setting

It looks like in the 2015 Grand Cherokees, the default on the ECO setting will stay where you set it even on restart. Can this feature be retrofitted or reprogrammed by the dealer(or any other way) to the 2014 so that it doesn't always default to ON?

Re: ECO mode default setting

This was discussed previously and the consensus was that it isn't possible without extensive software reprogramming.

Thanks for the replies. If I'm understanding the last reply correctly, according to the TSB the failure to hold a setting can be looked at by the tech an undesirable condition and changed? I wonder how willing the dealer would be to do this for me. They can be a pain if it's something that they don't feel is important.

Because the transmission may not shift properly in eco mode, they will update the transmission control module to improve the shifting. The tsb says nothing about updating the body control module which would be necessary to accomplish what you want. There was a tsb for the early '15s, to update the back, none for the '14s.

Re: ECO mode default setting

well, alrighty then. thanks. Just as well. It shifts perfectly, gets 25+ MPG on the highway. I didn't want to mess with anything anyway. I'll continue to push the button as part of the launch sequence.
