Electrical issues?

I got my summit back from the dealership 2 days ago for getting my passive entry fixed, which they did. Yesterday when I was going down the interstate my voltage light came on, it was at 14 volts. Shit the jeep off and it was fine. Today, going down the interstate with the cruise on, it shifted into neutral, had to shut it off, restart and it was fine. Do you think the main battery cable is loose or do I have more serious problems? Thanks

I'd pull the codes and check all ground cables. Sounds like you had a spike and by the time the voltage came on it was gone. Without the codes though I do not know if high or low.

How do you pull the codes? There's nothing in the messages

If your Jeep is going into neutral while driving down the highway, get it to the dealer. That is dangerous for you, an people around you.

In the time it took to ask if it might be the battery cable you could have checked it ... no tools required.

Checking all the grounds is good advise. But since you probably don't know where they all are, you would be gambling with your safety, if that is in fact the problem.

Pulling codes is another good idea, if you think you will be able to (or want to) make the necessary repairs that they indicate.

I'm not an advocate of running to the dealer for every rattle or loose piece of trim. But when you are facing a problem that could cause an accident;

GET THEE TO A DEALER!

May have noticed that this seems to be an ongoing problem. I have found that if you know what the error codes are and what they mean you tend to get better service than just "it went into neutral" particularly with a voltage pop-up.

My point is that with an Android smart phone or tablet, "pulling codes" just needs a $20 BT dongle from Amazon and a $5 app, "Torque". It even lets you e-mail the results to yourself so can cut&paste later.

Since I have a '12 V6, I check for misfires monthly.

This also lets you find something before it clears itself.

Might mention I also bought a lifetime warrenty and the service manual but have spent a lot of time around airplanes.
