Engaging reverse from drive

Question if this is normal, I seem to be doing it more so then ever now. When in drive going to reverse, I put the shifter to R but it's like it's not enough, I have to move it a little past the indent to engage R. Not all the time but more so it seems like if I put the shifter up to R and need to do a quick reverse, its hard to explain. I don't know if it's just the design of the tranny shifter not really have a "spot" persay for R.

At this moment i just narrowed it down, for anyone else that may try, when in N go to R and it won't engage without going past R. If you do a solid motion from D to R it engages everytime at the moment.

Re: Engaging reverse from drive

I haven't seen anything like this on any other posts.
Do remember that the W5A580 NAG1 Transmission is electronically controlled. It isn't directly mated when you shift, it sends the signal to control the actuators. There is supposed to be a flash to make the transmission a little better, so contact your dealership and check that out. How fast are you going when you go from D to R?

Re: Engaging reverse from drive

Does not sound normal. My 12 Overland V6 goes into reverse perfectly and I have never had to change the position of the shifter or push it further to engage it.
