Re: Engine Fails To Start

2011 Overland, 31,000 miles at dealership for the 3rd attempt to fix the no-start issue. 1st time applied TSB. 2nd time replaced WIN module and re-programmed both keys. Only know that parts are ordered and hope to have it back tomorrow. Will update on what they do.

Angry Re: Engine Fails To Start

Tomorrow makes the fifth day the dealership has had my Overland. They claim they have replaced every part of the wireless ignition system and it still has no start issues. They were going to contact Chrysler today for recommendations. Has anyone out there had similar problems and found a fix. Getting very frustrated.

Re: Engine Fails To Start

After the 5th trip to the dealer, they have finally decided that it needs a TIPM (totally intergrated power module). The car can be started with the FOB inserted in the ignition but not with the push button. Unfortunately, the TIPM is on national back order. May be days or weeks before the part comes in.

Re: Engine Fails To Start

"Cannot be started with push button" is a different problem from the one that started this thread.

My MY2011 Overland has failed to start on me twice. It would crank the engine but not catch. The first time, I gave up after several tries and let it sit for a day; it started on the first try the next morning. The second time, it caught on the fourth try. The dealer couldn't find any codes.

The fact that it cranks means that the key and the electronics inside the cabin are fine.

Next time, I'll try opening the gas tank filler cap. Thanks for the suggestion.

But our problem (mine, at least) may have something to do with it.
I have learned that when my car cranks the engine and won't start, I have to cycle the ignition (off-and-on again) and then I can run it from the first attempt. And that has happened many many times.

Sorry for my English guys.

Re: Engine Fails To Start

looks like mine is fixed. The theory that the car could be started with the fob inserted in the ignition proved not to be the case. It still had intermittent problems starting just as before. The TIPM came is with in a few days. It appears to have solved the problem. I've had the car back for 3 days and no starting problem. The fact that it set no codes made it difficult for the dealer to resolve. They threw a lot of parts at it before hitting on the right one.
