ESC in Hill Descent Mode

Hi folks.

Vehicle is a 2011 GC Overland Summit 5.7, Quadra-Trac II 4WD, etc. Purchased new. 4th GC since 2002 and have loved them all.

Live in central WI and have a LONG downhill driveway. Lots of nice icy snow in the winter.

OK. Maybe a little slow in catching this. When I engage 4WD Low and use the HDC, the instrument panel shows the ESC to be "OFF".

Surprised me as I thought the ESC would stay "ON" to assist in stability while descending in the ice/snow. Tell the truth I never noticed this in my 2009 GC.

Assume this is normal.?????

Re: ESC in Hill Descent Mode

Mine does the same thing, 2012 GC Overland. I just assumed it was normal.

Does the same in "sport mode". I assume it's just telling you the ESC is operating on a different program than normal driving.
