My wife has a phobia of filling gas. Thus, I always fill the Jeep on the weekends. Last Friday came around, and she did more driving than typical. The light came on, and she called. I told her to watch "DTE" -- as we always have the Fuel Economy screen displayed. I told her if it got really low, she had to fill. She was at work -- 13 mi away from home, and DTE stated 30. OK -- no problem. That's the last she remembered. After she got home safely, she said "DTE" didn't have a reading when she looked last. I said, "impossible -- you must have went to another screen". When I started it Sunday -- sure enough -- DTE said nothing -- no reading -- blank. I said, "we have to get to nearest station NOW, and you are walking if we run out". How did it go from "30" -- to "blank" in 13 miles of driving? Shouldn't it say "0" if you have NO MILES left? Since I wasn't driving, I can't say when it actually went blank (I would know -- because I would have watched it -- she just gets in and drives). We drove 1 mile to the nearest station, and put 23.1 gallons in at pump shut off-- I never top off. Had I known it was that low, I would have added mower gas before driving to station. Argg! Have you ever watched DTE until it gets really low? I typically never run that low.
