Excessively long CD copies

I just purchased a Grand Cherokee Overland with the 730N media center. It takes anywhere from 1 to 2 hours to copy a music cd to the media center hard drive. Is anyone else experiencing these excessively long durations? The dealership service center where I bought the overland says this is typical and to be expected. This seams entirely too long to me.

Hi Matt. I fully agree. 5-10 minutes top in my opinion as well. What do you think it is? The dealership service center I am working with is worthless.

Re: Excessively long CD copies

Could be a problem with the hard drive? Mine reads and stores them pretty quick but usually i put them on my comp first and then a flash drive. Try using a flash drive to see if that is slow as well. The flash drive should be 10 sec a song. If the dealer says it is normal to be slow go out on their lot and try it in a new vehicle. Prove them wrong!

Re: Excessively long CD copies

Shouldn't take that long at all, sounds like you have a problem with the hard drive

I was having the same annoyance. It was going to take forever to load up the music I wanted, so I got hold of a 32 Gb thumb drive off ebay, loaded it with music from my computer, and put it in the usb slot under the armrest - works well

Re: Excessively long CD copies

Thumbdrive is the way to go.

For an original audio cd, I have had a few that ripped at very slow rate vs others.

Re: Excessively long CD copies

Re: Excessively long CD copies

I've seen it take almost 30 minutes to copy a cd to the drive. But it also took 45-50 minutes to copy 16gb of songs from a thumb drive.
