exhaust fumes in cabin after hard acceleration

After I accelerate and let off I get exhaust fumes in the cabin for a short period. It only happens on hard acceleration. Anyone experience this? Thanks.

Re: exhaust fumes in cabin after hard acceleration

Yes!! same problem 14 Overland 5.7 was planning on taking it in to the dealer 2 weeks ago for this problem after procrastinating for awhile. But unfortunately I got into a minor accident prior to the appointment and waiting for it to be fixed to reschedule. To me smells more like burning oil

You sure its not just the usual catalytic converter smell that you usually get after flooring a car? I occasionally get the catalytic converter smell depending on what gas I use, but definitely not exhaust fumes in my '14 Summit.

As a matter of fact it is cat converter stink. Going to talk to my guy at the dealership about it. Thanks for all the replies.

Well then it's not really a problem. Pretty much every car does this and it really varies depending on the quality of fuel you use. A trip to the dealership is going to be a waste of time IMO. This is just a normal occurrence that happens when a converter heats to extreme temps during WOT and exhaust gases pass through it.

Re: exhaust fumes in cabin after hard acceleration

My 5.7 L does the same thing. I've been to the dealer twice and they first said they couldn't replicate the problem, and second time said it was "normal".

While I agree that some level of smell is "normal", the amount that my Jeep produces and fills the cabin with is insanely high. It's so bad you have to roll down the windows in order to breathe. I also worry about the safety of breathing this smell (carbon monoxide)?

If anyone finds a solution, please let me know.
