Extended Warantee

Don't know if this is the right place for this thread, mods, please feel free to move it if it's not.

I just bought a 2014 WK2 Overland with 60,000 miles. The dealer wants to sell me the Chrysler extended warantee for $1650, which takes the coverage to 2020 and 100,000 miles whichever comes first. We really don't plan on putting more than 8k miles a year on the car.

My main concern is that the car is so electronically controlled, it wouldn't take much to cover that cost quickly if something goes wrong.

Don't know if it's worth the cost.

Any thoughts and recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Roger

Re: Extended Warantee

If you're planning to keep the vehicle for any length of time, then yes, a Chrysler extended warranty is a good investment when you start looking at what some of the repair costs will run.

As one example... the warranty cost would more than pay for itself if you had a failure of your QuadraLift suspension.

x2

if the radiator goes out easily $700 at the dealer to replace. vs 100 deductible.

Quadra-Lift Compressor is easily $1000 alone.

Re: Extended Warantee

60k and they are offering an FCA MVP Plan? The normal cutoff is 48k or 48 months after that no MVP can be purchased...Is this an official CPO?

but, yes get it if available

Yes, the car was bought as a CPO, which is why they can offer the warantee. Unfortunately, they can only offer the 7 yr/100k miles, not the lifetime unlimited because of the mileage.

Anyone else?

Re: Extended Warantee

Power steering rack will run you almost that much. If you will have the GC for the entire length of that warranty then it is a fair deal.

True dat....but for any non mechanical types listening MY16 and + has no hydraulic assist (the thing that leaks and forces steering rack replace).

Electric. I think they had to go to that to implement the park assist. Park assist was the Guinea Pig for autonomous vehicles.

With hydraulic it was power assist, electric is real power steering which can work hands off.
