Re: Extended warranty: Max Care VS. Added Care Plus

One more question, are the warranties offered/sold on Chryslerwarrantys.com completely legitimate and the exact same as the warranties offered at dealerships? If I do purchase one online, down the road I don't want the dealership telling me the warranty I have is no good.

Re: Extended warranty: Max Care VS. Added Care Plus

Wow, what a great website. I wish I had found this when I first started considering the new GC. I bought mine the first week in January. I got the Max Care 5yr/70,000 for $1310. I also got the Ultimate Vehicle Protection $475 that covers tires/wheels, windshield (although StateFarm covers this in my policy), and dent/ding protection.

I looked at the Chysler warranty website and the 5yr/70,000 is $1,081 and they emailed me a promotion for $180 off, so $901.

I will be calling the dealership today to see if they can match or I'll upgrade to 6yr/100,000 for $1,630 (less $180, net of $1,450)

Has anyone else had experience with the Ultimate Vehicle Protection? I had bad luck with the vehicle I traded in and liked the idea of tire & door ding coverage.

Yes, that warranty is the same offered by Chryco across the country. In fact, that website is a dealership in Wisconsin (?) if I remember right.
You won't have any problems with that warranty.

But do as you suggested above and take the price page from the website into the dealership, inform them that you have decided to cancel added care and go with max care, and give them the opportunity to beat the price (personally I'd settle for a price match from the dealership which will be servicing the vehicle, but at first request a price beat).

I'm betting that they will probably at least match the price since they are facing not only a lost warranty sale, but also a charge back from your cancellation. Beating/matching the website price of the max care and selling that to you will allow them to lessen the blow a bit of the added care cancellation.

I plan on getting the lifetime also as the plan is to keep the GC for at least 6-7 years and I do about 25k-30k a year in miles.

Re: Extended warranty: Max Care VS. Added Care Plus

Where in writing does it say I can cancel the Max Warranty in the first 60 days? Before I call the dealerships business manager I wanted a little ammo besides saying "I read it on a website"

On the back of the service contract you got when you purchased your waranty. It says you can cancel for a full refund within the first 30 days, a full refund - $50 service fee in the first 60 days. After that it is pro-rated based on time remaining.

Re: Extended warranty: Max Care VS. Added Care Plus

I've only bought one extended warranty and that was on my first Jeep Grand Cherokee in 1992....glad I did. Since then, never really planned on keeping them past the warranty point anyway although my 2005 is going on 6 years and not one issue....not one other than scheduled maintenance.

One thing to keep in mind in the analysis is that a warranty is only as good as the company standing behind it. When GM went BK there was concern that the warranties would be dead....didn't happen since that would have killed GM since burned owners will go somewhere else. Don't know about the GM extended warranties if they were honored or not.

Re: Extended warranty: Max Care VS. Added Care Plus

I went with the maxcare lifetime for both, going to be paying for them for a while I don't want to have to pay tons of money when they get older. Especially with the QL and other items, out of warranty these would be very expensive to repair/replace.

Re: Extended warranty: Max Care VS. Added Care Plus

The lifetime extended warranty is non-transferable whereas the non-lifetime versions can be transferred one time, I recall. For those of us that might be handing the WK2 over to a child as a college gift down the road (a few years maybe?) that may be a factor to consider. Either way, the extended warranty is a good buy.

This is why I won't be "giving" it to my son, but just "letting him drive it"

Something to consider when you are calculating what constitutes a "price match" from your local dealer-- pretty sure that chryslerwarrantys.com does NOT charge sales tax!! Insist on an additional discount in the amount of your state's sales tax to offset this.

Hat tip to member Redcivic47 for this effective armtwisting technique.

Re: Extended warranty: Max Care VS. Added Care Plus

I agree, the Lifetime Maxcare is the way to go. Have a price of $1,968.00 with a $100.00 deductible on a new Grand Cherokee Overland, and am probably going to take it.
