I'm waiting on one too. If you find elsewhere let us know!

Does anyone know if the format used on the DVD lends itself to being stored on a tablet or in a cloud account?

I'm getting a cheap Kindle to leave in my car with the owner's manual, UG, etc. This, I think, is better than the printed version because it can be kept up to date.

It seems to be a more restricted than previous years, it is set up for internet exploder, the Adobe SVG reader they abandoned 5 or 6 years ago and a windoze OS. You'll probably need a windoze netbook at least. The similar CD we have for the 2009 Liberty could be kludged to be read by some browsers, but this CD seems to be more restricted. Back in 2006 the manuals were distributed in std PDF format.

Arrived today and is interesting. Single CD about 400 MB. Logically arranged but appears to work only with Internet Explorer, not Firefox & on Windows only.

Major missing pieces are "Search" and "Print". You have to know what you are looking for .

Several places it references "appropriate" wiring information and another references a Chassis Diagnostics Manual. Going to find out what these are.

Do have places where the wiring diagram appears to be blacked out since there is a big black square with "something" on the bottom and a reference to "appropriate wiring information" - anyone else seeing that ? Particularly in the "diagnostics" section near the end.

Though what it does it does in a straightforward manner and so far seems pretty complete - even includes information on the diesel.

I have a call in to tech authority about the items that appear to be missing or blacked out. To Be Continued.

ps to be fair it may be an incompatibility between the required Adobe SVG ("Adobe discontinued support for Adobe SVG Viewer on January 1, 2009.") and IE 10. Oy.

Yes I got mine today and I agree...... where are the wiring diagrams.

I've been waiting for this service manual so I could wire up rear fogs to work independantly from the fronts like the export WK2's. Without a complete OEM wiring schematic this will be near impossible.

Well saw in many places that IE 10 does not support SVG so removed the update and now have IE8.

Now takes several minutes to load (was fast before) and get a blank white screen instead of a black one.

SVG seems to be for the wiring diagrams only, everything else displays.

This is really annoying.

Update: it works just fine on my XP/IE8 netbook, brings up the diagrams and all but Win 7/IE8 desktop still refuses to render and takes over a minute to load. Something is very wrong here but do not know what.

Waning: do not hit reload or the TOC gets lost.

Works somewhat on my Windows 7 netbook IE9 64 bit... except the screen is way too small. Fully functional on my ancient XP and IE8 laptop... section 8W, where wiring diagrams are typically placed, contains only some power stuff.

Chrysler is still using code that was designed for Internet Explorer 5.5, and a SVG Viewer from Adobe that even Adobe stopped supporting back in 2009. Its common problem with Chrysler manuals.. but shops typically don't update their PCs until they break.

also see http://connectors.dcctools.com/faq.htm

A recent post on another chrysler forum." if you expect the CD to run on a new PC with Windows 7 or Vista you will be in for shock. The CD will not run on a Vista or Win7 OS with Internet Explorer 9, at least not without a lot of work and maybe some $. Don't even think about a Apple computer. I was able to get my CD to run on a 10 year old PC with Windows XP and Internet Explorer 8. I have also been able to get the CD to run with Windows 7 Pro running WIndows XP with Internet Explorer 6 in a VM. But this is only available for Windows 7 Pro and Ultimate, not the typical OS's sold new computers. Both Windows XP and the VM for Windows 7 is a free download (both about 500 MB) from Microsoft.
I called TechAuthority for help and they initially suggested I install Internet Explorer 6 on my new computer . I am not sure that is even possible. And definitely not advisable due to security issues. Internet Explorer 6 is no longer supported by Microsoft.
After some investigation on my part, the major cause of the incompatibility with Windows 7 and any new Internet Explorer is because of the old HTML code and also the use of Adobe SVG for displaying some of the graphics. Adobe abandoned support for the SVG viewer used with the Service Manual the end of 2008. I think the old HTML code is the big issue, though I have not fully investigated it yet. "

Waiting for a call back but have now tried on more devices:

Works fine though takes up to five minutes to load on Atom-based netbooks running XP, Windows 7-32, and 7-64 & 2 GB RAM all with IE8 (have to turn off active content blocking though)

New desktop with Windows 8/IE 10 3.8GHz/4GB loads in 30 seconds and works but wiring digrams are blacked out though tries to display the bottom 10 or 20 pixels. Have seen mention that the early Adobe SVG and IE10 are incompatible.

Windows 7-64 desktop did the same thing with IE 10. I unloaded the update which put back at IE 8 & reloaded everything. Now get a white completely blank box and not a black one. This cannot be done from Windows 8 so is of limited value on my Windows tablet.

So I can make it work on some devices (have about everything around here) but not all or current models and is Windows/IE only - not MAC, iOS, Linux, or Android (or Firefox for that matter).

That said this only seems to apply to the wiring diagrams so the proper thing for CJF to do when customers complain is to supply the wiring diagrams in a different format.

Do you have some virus scanning thing slowing you down?

My Acer Aspire 1810 netbook running windoze 7 and IE 9 opens within a couple seconds plus CD drive delay. I don't see any of the SVG diagrams. A few seconds to open with my old compaq presario 2200 with XP and IE 8, where all the disgrams are presented.. the diagrams often take a couple seconds to load.

I also have a support request submitted on how to use the CD with Windoze 8, they say they are working on some kind of fix.

Never did get a callback so called. Talked to a young lady and apparently they are aware of the problem and are working on "something" that should be ready in a couple of weeks (do not know if print or wiring diagrams or software).

Meanwhile the issue only affects the 2767 SVG images and I am looking into a Unix program that may be able to change SVGs to JPGs. RSN.

Meanwhile if you have ordered the manual. make sure you are on the mailing list to receive notice of whatever "fix" TechAuthority comes up with.

But for now the CD only works partly with Win 8 or IE 10 and may have difficulty with others, SVG (mostly wiring diagrams) do not properly display (and if someone has a fix, please let me know) but text and gif/jpgs do.

Ealier versions (Windows XP, Vista, and 7, IE 6-8) should work.

ps just disabled the "on access" scan and it loaded in about 15 seconds from engine selection on my Aspire 1 netbook. (Win 7 IE 8). I do not like doing this though.

And, for those of you that don't want to deal with it, Techauthority has a 30 day money back guaranty.. shipping costs excluded I suspect...

I have enough devices that can run it to make it usable. The whole structure is definately "last century" though - no "print this section" and no Search.

It is annoying but has explinations of all the "P" error codes and criteria plus what it takes to clear and documentation that is not available elsewhere makes it worth while. Will be with me on any road trip. Should others spend $165 for something I would expect to find on a "$3 your choice" table ? That is up to you. Might want to wait for the $19.95 Haynes.

ps the body and entertainment wiring info is already online as .pdfs.

Been playing with it some more & looks like it loads and accesses a lot of things into memory and the hard disk & not just on the CD. I tried just exempting only the CD from scanning instead of turning the scanner off and load time went back through the roof.

Wonder if Chrysler knows they are selling software that can't work properly on a new PC or Tablet and you have to turn off any antivirus or it takes whole minutes to load ?

Of course it might just be Hanlon's razor. May be a market here.

So how useful is it? I mainly need the shop manuals for the wiring diagrams, but I do find it occasionally useful for other repair stuff. Trying to figure out if it's worth the $135+ship.

It has a lot if information, particularly diagnostics, that I have not seen elsewhere. OTOH the technology is last century, there is no SEARCH, and it does not work properly with Windows 8 (only IE and WIn 7 or earlier).

So if you need to ask, it probably is not worth it. However if concerned about having something break out in the boonies with no service and are able to extract trouble codes then maybeso.

ps the "plus" was about $30 or $164.90 total.

It works with Windows 7 and IE 8 just not display the graphics for any higher version of IE and does not work with anything else.

I contact them about once a month but doubt that Chrysler Cares.

Other issues: no search or selective print, takes whole minutes to load following engine selection if you have a good anti-virus, and must enable active content every time it loads.

Of course if you have no security you may not see the latter.

Despite all of that it does have information that is unavailable anywhee else so am willing to put up with all of the annoyances since have not bothered to just reformat the whole thing.

Are over 11,000 files (including 2700 .svgs and 5400 xmls) so expect it would take me about a month to write a program to convert the SVGs to JPGs and rewrite the HTML/XML to work on anything. A competent 15 year old should be able to do the same.

TechAuthority has an online subscription but does not help when you are in the boonies.

The CD is complete in itself but I consider it more of an extended owner's manual than a real service manual. For example the wiring diagrams are very limited (says so in description) however a full wiring diagram is not available.

It does tell you how to change the air filter which is lacking in the owner's manual.

The nicest thing I can say is that the description of OBD-II error codes is pretty good even if the wiring diagrams do not always display.

has anyone tried this?
1. Open IE8
2.
Open >Tools >Developer Tools
3.
Switch Browser Mode to IE7 and Document Mode to IE7

or possible google chrome would open the pages successfully?

I dont want to buy this disc just to change a bunch of software on my pc-

I did call tech authority the sales person said they are working on a fixit program - but they have no ETA:confused:
