FCW sensor failure

I have a 2011 Overland Summit....the message center says "Service Radar Sensor"....Taking it in on Monday...but just before it failed I installed a redar detector and the very instant I started the vehicle with the new detector installed...this message came up...Is it possible the radar detector created the problem?

Re: FCW sensor failure

I'd say so. I wouldn't tell that story to the dealer! Might wanna remove the installed radar detector before taking it in.

Got the power right off a new fuse under the hood...Nothing in the service manual about not using a radar detector so they are fixin' it...I'll update after wed this week...

Re: FCW sensor failure

It doesn't matter if you're allowed to have one or not. But if they find that they're correcting your mistake then they will probably make you pay.

Re: FCW sensor failure

It really doesn't matter where the power is derived from....the isue is a radar detector will confuse and fail the radar sensor for vehicles with Forward Collision Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control....there should be [and probably will be] verbage in the owners manual...I'm not paying for it...not even sure if that is the cause...will know tomorrow and let everyone know...

How? A radar detector only receives radar signals, it doesn't transmit any.

Re: FCW sensor failure

some let some radar out; my V1 will pick it up the ones that bleed.

like in VA. they can nail you even with a hidden one.

I just had my forward collision module replaced and my radar detector is back in action. No problems.
