I think that is a rental company screw up. They should have a PO from your dealer. I have seen this happen a number of times.... at my GM store clients as well.

Yea, I was inclined to agree, except after pulling receipts and looking at what was charged, long story short, we were supposed to have the car back by 5 to not get charged extra time, but after all that had happened that morning, the dealer said "just have it back by the time we close, we'll take care of it."

Apparently not.

Chrysler does not own the dealerships.

True, but a portion of my experience relates to Chrysler HQ customer service and Case Managers, which they do own, so that's why I generalized it and said Chrysler.

You were comparing your experience at a GM dealership with the Chrysler dealer you are dealing with. They are both independently owned you could have one owner that has several brands. So really it just depends on the dealer you happen to be dealing with and not necessarily the brand.

Re: Fear of 2014 Chryslers - Ridiculous

Well for what it's worth, after several trips to the dealer with my 2013 JGC Ltd.for the loud noise coming from the pano glass roof, getting it finally replaced (The frame),now quiet as ever, and the vibration at 65-70 mph, again, several trips to the dealer, two complete balancing's of all four tires, (Michelin Latitudes), rotations, and finally an allignment, it rides as smooth as ever like a luxary vehicle should. I have 20,000 miles on it now, and for the last 8-9m miles it has been a delight to own and drive. Started using 100% gasoline (no Ethanol) for the last 6,000 miles and it has made a big difference in the idle. Times my wife and I thought it stopped running at a red light. I know how frustrating problems can be, and how dissapointing it is to spend that kind of money and go through that crap. Once again, for what it's worth, hang in there for once the problems get solved you will really love that new Grand Cherokee. I might get in my GC tomorrow AM and it could start all over with something else but for now its wonderful to drive. All the best to everyone having issues. Their is hope.

Re: Fear of 2014 Chryslers - Ridiculous

Though not related to Jeep specifically, since we had to contact the rental company to get the charge taken off our credit card, we asked about the rental 300C we had to have towed from our garage (see mini rant in first post from that afternoon) - it was in the shop for over 2 weeks with an electrical issue, and while it was in there, the same thing happened to another customer in a separate vehicle. These were off-the-truck 2014 cars. Definitely some gaps in their electronics validation process or something.

I don't believe this story. Might be true but I'm not buying it. Furthermore the 2014 300 is not even out yet.

My mistake on the 2014 - I did assume that since it was end of August, they were already into MY 2014. Probably was a 2013 - doesn't say on the receipt, just has a VIN. As far as the rest of it, that's what the manager of Enterprise relayed to my wife when she stopped by yesterday. He has no reason to embellish good or bad towards any manufacturer.

Re: Fear of 2014 Chryslers - Ridiculous

Well, my wife's been out running errands in the Jeep today, and she called me around lunch and said "the steering wheel is shaking when I'm on the interstate." Ok, great. Then she just called and said the got the "Vehicle phone requires service - see your dealer" message.

I'll be driving it for 100 miles or so tomorrow, so I'm going to have her take pictures and video if either of them do in fact repeat. If so, looks like I'll be calling Chrysler and opening up another case. That is, if I don't decide to leave the doors unlocked and keys it in when we go away on vacation (I'm kidding. I think).

So, we've definitely encountered:
1. The Christmas Tree gauges thing (3 times)
2. The parking light recall
3. The random radio/nav freezes and blackouts

And, now possibly:
1. The shimmy
2. The service phone message/bad radio

We did not have the steering column bracket ringing issue, as the dealer removed it at first oil change. Wonder if we missed any others though. I'd hate to know we didn't experience all the common ones.
