Feels like I am "power braking" when I am not

I have a new (1500 miles) 2015 JGC WK2 Ecodiesel, 8 speed that has a few times when leaving a stop felt like I was power braking (foot on the brake and gas at the same time) when indeed I was not. It has always happened after the vehicle is warmed up and just after having the transmission in park or neutral. I put the jeep in drive, give it some gas to get moving, and for a second the engine revs a little but the jeep doesn't move, then all of sudden it lets go and I am off. Its totally weird. It has only happened 3 or 4 times, just enough times to know that I am not just making it up in my mind.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Thanks a ton.

Same here, I've questioned that one myself.

Re: Feels like I am "power braking" when I am not

Are you on an incline when it happens?

"The HSA system is designed to assist the driver when starting a vehicle from a stop on a hill. HSA will maintain the level of brake pressure the driver applied for a short period of time after the driver takes their foot off of the brake pedal. If the driver does not apply the throttle during this short period of time, the system will release brake pressure and the vehicle will roll down the hill. The system will release brake pressure in proportion to the amount of throttle applied as the vehicle starts to move in the intended direction of travel.

HSA Activation Criteria

The following criteria must be met in order for HSA to activate:

Vehicle must be stopped.
Vehicle must be on a 6% (approximate) grade or greater hill.
Gear selection matches vehicle uphill direction (i.e., vehicle facing uphill is in forward gear; vehicle backing uphill is in REVERSE gear).
HSA will work in REVERSE and all forward gears when the activation criteria have been met. The system will not activate if the vehicle is placed in NEUTRAL or PARK."

Re: Feels like I am "power braking" when I am not

Regarding Hill Start Assist (HSA): The last two occurrences happened on 1) in a parking lot, almost flat, and 2) in front my our mailbox, very slight grade. I cant recall about the other times, but I know it has not occurred on a downhill start. So its possible the HSA is kicking in, but I am confident that I was not on 6% grades where this system is supposed to operate.

Maybe a caliper sticking?

Emergency brake fully released?

Go into the settings in Uconnect and turn off the Hill Start Assist. I turned mine off and it made the starts a lot smoother smoother. Did away with a lot of the turbo lag feel.

Re: Feels like I am "power braking" when I am not

I noticed this morning that the HSA kicked in even though I wasn't parked on a hill. However, the road was a bit slanted. Maybe this is what's triggering yours?

I am going to give this a shot. Thank you. This issue is not ebrake related, although I am sometimes guilty of that :-)

Let us know if it helps. I may turn mine off if throttle response is better.

Re: Feels like I am "power braking" when I am not

That sounds like the HSA is turned on. I had that same sensation with my previous Jeep and I only have a slight incline on my driveway. Turning HSA off made it go away.

Re: Feels like I am "power braking" when I am not

I disabled HSA (thanks again for the tip) and have driven a few times without a hiccup. It is such an intermittent issue that I will need a couple of months before I come to a conclusion.

Re: Feels like I am "power braking" when I am not

Don't you need to be in 4 lo to activate Hill Start?
with only 1500 miles I think your trans is still learning your driving habits and maybe your brakes are still breaking in.
