I do have a persnickety nature to me so before I put much more effort into this, is anyone else having hard 2-3 up-shifts in the mornings? Software problems I can wait for (although it seems Chrysler has the updates for the cars on the line a month before they release it to cars on the road) but hardware issues that will not resolve themselves I have no patience for.
Yep, same issue...it's alot worse when cold - 2-3, 3-4 and 2-1 shifts are pretty rough. Calms down once the tranny gets warm but not completely. It's a software issue...the first flash fixed some issues but introduced others. Hoping the 2nd flash that just came out resolves the issues. They must think they've fixed the issues since they made it an RRT.

Alright, I appreciate the quick response. The 3-4 was not really an issue for me until AFTER the RRT...seems like it made things worse. I had high hopes for the RRT but it didn't seem to do much--other then the kickdowns are smoother then before. And as I just spoke with people at various levels at Chrysler, they seem to know the RRT was not a fix. Hopefully they either come up with a fix or contract ZF to do it for them...funny how the trans ZF builds and designs the software for has almost no complaints

I totally agree. It's better but still needs more fine tuning.

Re: FLASH: TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENHANCEMENTS (vehicles with 3.6L engine)

I just got the RRT 13-066 TCM update yesterday (9/18), definite improvement with the downshifts into 2nd and 1st, and less shifting delay when hitting the gas hard. Not a 100% fix, but I will give it some time before passing final judgment.

Re: FLASH: TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENHANCEMENTS (vehicles with 3.6L engine)

Went in today and got the new trans update along with the HVAC. Seems to be better. When I got home I noticed that they put on the receipt "Flash PCM & FDCM" whereas it should be the TCM and DTCM per the TSB. Just a sloppy entry or did they not do the correct flash? Anyone have any insight?

Yesterday I went to a dealer to get the transmission and HVAC update. They installed the HVAC update but said the tranny update does not apply to my vehicle. I showed them the service bulletin but they basically said wi tech was not showing there was an update for my tranny so they could not force install the update. I have a V6 2014 overland that was built July 25. Is there any way the update actually does not apply to my VIN or is this dealer full of it?

For those of you that has issues getting the dealer to install the transmission update, what did you do to get it? Call Chrysler? Go to another dealer? I don't understand why some dealers install this update no problem and others won't.

Did anyone have to pay for this flash?

Re: FLASH: TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENHANCEMENTS (vehicles with 3.6L engine)

Went it today and had the remote start AC issue and Transmission Flash done.

On the AC issue: My AC always worked with the remote start however would cut off when the driver's door opened only to restart with my settings. With the flash, it still does the same thing. Those few seconds of no AC on a hot day are really annoying, but there are far worse things. Oh well, as long as the car gets cold, I'm not complaining anymore.

Transmission: I had the previous flash done and noticed improvements there, but the delayed downshifting really annoyed me still. The first flash also fixed some harsh shifting when coming to a light, but introduced a new clunk when giving a bit of gas from a really low speed. The new flash has fixed the downshift lag a great deal and the engine feels much more responsive. Like others have said, it's not perfect (perfect is probably non-eco mode) but it's so so close now. I mean, eco-mode is definitely more driveable and I don't mind it anymore.

Re: FLASH: TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENHANCEMENTS (vehicles with 3.6L engine)

I had the update RRT installed on Friday. I immediately noticed a change for the better in the down-shifts and the acceleration lag. Not sure if it was as much of an improvement as much as that the previous update was so bad that anything seems like an improvement.

Sno,

They made another slight change which now involves 2 pieces of software to be installed... It was a further improvement of the initial flash.

I think they realized after the fact a PCM update helped.
