Re: FLASH: TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENHANCEMENTS (vehicles with 3.6L engine)

I tried setting up an appointment today (10/21) where I bought my 2014 GC Limited from to get the 3rd transmission update (21-007-13 REV.B) since I'm still occasionally getting rough downshifts into 4th, 2nd, and 1st, as well as get the latest radio update (08-049-13 REV.D...13.38.52) since I'm currently running 13.19 and still having some issues, and I also asked about a possible HVAC update (24-002-13 Sep 05, 2013) since I can't get my heated steering wheel & heated seat to turn on when remote starting the vehicle. As a matter of fact, the climate system turns off every time I turn off the vehicle.

The first question the Service rep. asked me (after asking for my personal information)...

"Where did you get this TSB information?". I said online. He then said "Just because it's listed on the internet doesn't mean it's true."...I'm saying to myself OK...thanks Dad.

He then said they were waiting for the update disc for the radio update, so I wouldn't be able to get that update until then. So I said nicely thanks anyway and he said goodbye, and ended the call.

The same Service rep. calls me back 10 minutes later and tells me he ran my VIN through the Chrysler site, and that I have all the latest updates for my vehicle. I said to him how can that be since the last time I was at the dealership getting the 2nd transmission update it was middle of September...and these new updates came out October 12th & 8th.

He didn't have answer, and told me they would contact me when any updates for my vehicle are available...and that was the end of the conversation. What's the sense for Chrysler to put out these updates if the dealerships won't perform them for the customers?

So now I don't know if this Service rep. was just feeding me a line...and if I should find a new dealership or not. All I can say is this 2014 GC has been the worst car ownership experience I've ever had...and I've owned a lot of new cars over the years, both foreign & domestic.

Never again Chrysler...never again.

My service rep said the same thing, there is no "3rd update". I think they just clarified the procedure to cover more configurations and upped it to REV B.

You can update the Radio yourself (in most cases). That's strange that he said he has to wait for DVD.

Since they don't specify firmware rev's in these TSB's I can certainly understand a Service Rep as interpreting it either way. Only someone hooking up WiTech and it notifying them there is an update after the 2nd update was applied will tell them that it exists.

I would not be too upset with them.

Exact same response from my dealer as well... They havent created any trouble during the earlier updates. So I think the 3rd one is just a clarification.

They told me no CD for the uconnect update.

the service manager told me that the chief mechanic took a look and felt that something was not right about the shifting. he felt something else was going on other than a flash and wanted to take another look. so he setup another appt for tomorrow... not sure whether i need to take my jeep becos its a known problem and i dont want them to create new trouble. I have been going back and forth for the last few months and dint expect this all of a sudden

I (supposedly) got this done yesterday while I was in for other things. (Like others, not exactly sure what this entailed) It felt great on the way home. But I know it will take a few weeks. Dealer mentioned to me on the way out a spiel about the 'learning' of the tranny and it may take about 5k for the 'programming' to be complete. I'll be able to tell more this morning on the cold shifts. At this time I prob won't do the battery disconnect trick, again

My drive wasn't too long last night, I'll continue to keep everyone updated. Mileage is 4800, March build

OK well I will answer in the clear... the instructions they have also give them the option of downloading the Update via the UConnect dealer site.

One thing I forgot to mention is the Service rep said the file for updating the radio to 13.38.52 was HUGE, and they were unable to download it. That's why they ordered the disc.

And I wanted to clarify that my climate system only turns off when I use the remote start.

Right, HUGE... 385 Megs, Windows update can download that much in a single run on a single computer. Your dealer must have dial up.

Not making fun of you, just a lame excuse on their part, if their internet was that slow, they wouldn't be able to use WiTech. I could send you a link for the updates, you can download them and hand deliver them.... Kind of like a self serve thing.

Sounds like the HVAC update symptoms. That symptom is related to the TSB.

So I am having the 2nd-3rd gear shift issue along with the oil service indicator being stuck at 13% even though I just changed the oil. Car has been in the shop for two days with no answers.

Thanks Willx for clarifying... and you are right about the Uconnect update as well... .3 GB is nothing. Eitherways it wasnt a big deal since it can be done by myself...
