Re: FLASH: TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENHANCEMENTS (vehicles with 3.6L engine)

I get my update tomorrow. I had Rev-A done and called in for Rev-B and they said no, you have it. This time I said I want Rev-C and they made an appointment.

It's been running pretty good, but I know it could be better.

They also confirmed I don't need N58 Recall !! Whoo-hoo. My Build date is like 1 week before what the N58 "All Models Before" date. I must have squeaked by on that one.

Got the new update today, and I have to say it's very smooth!!! Quicker up shifts and feels faster. I will report back in a month

Wait, wasn't too quick an upshift part of some complaints?

I'm assuming in your enthusiasm you misspoke.

A Quicker feel would be Slower (less aggressive) upshifts

I just had rev C done today. Much improved! Will need a few more days of driving to make a full assessment.

I'd try another dealer.

My regular dealer near home I have liked and used for years has been a pain on these.

I tried another dealer near my work, and they have been really great.

This new dealer said no on Rev-B because they did Rev-A. Rev-A was like September I think when the actual firmware was released. Rev-B was no new firmware, just procedural and that is the consensus here. When I called this time for Rev-C, same guy, he says no problem, when do you want to come in.

It's not a required update. The TSB says "if customer complains about these symptoms..." apply these updates.

I'd print it out and complain or try another dealer.

My overland was built 12/18 and is being shipped to the dealer. Will it have this tranny update or should I request before I take delivery? I did notice the jerky upshifts and extreme downshifts when coming to a stop on the one I test drove.

Re: FLASH: TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENHANCEMENTS (vehicles with 3.6L engine)

Got the first update, nothing changed but lowering my gas mileage. Went yesterday for the recall and had them do the new rev of the flash and it was life changing. My prayers have been answered, I was about to drive the jeep into the Charles River and leave it there.

On a side note, does your dealership charge for a loaner when it's a recall? Mine did and I pretty much laughed them out of the waiting room. I would file this under 'cost of doing business'

I believe the update is applied to any vehicle that qualifies, from the TSB...

Went to dealer to do this today, don't know if they flash revB or revC. Then the service manager told me that there was still hard shifting on my truck and they run the diagnose program which showed up an error code says the transmission valve needs to be replaced, and they ask me to wait until they get the part to fix it. Anyone else experience the same issue? Never thought I only put 5000 miles on it and the physical part starts to fail...

I've seen a couple of posts about folks getting a new valve body, although it was when the transmission wouldn't go into gear so its a good thing they got it now. Its a very straight forward procedure, relatively minor surgery.
