Just had mine flashed yesterday after two days of trying to get one of the 4 dealers in San Antonio to "Squeese me in." Then still waited 3 hours for them to find time. The receipt states "requested TSB # blah blah, then states, completed"
Well, I can tell a difference slightly across the board... except for one driving situation;
When accelerating from dead stop to about 5 mph, then let of the accelerator, the 1st gear still hangs, then slams into 2nd. Fml.

Re: FLASH: TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENHANCEMENTS (vehicles with 3.6L engine)

flashed mine this morning with another dealer. (I drove 30 mins to visit another dealer in Portland area) They were very good. When I arrived, they were waiting me and ready. They update the transmission, remove a rattling metal plate under the dash, update uConnect software, simple inspections and clean inside and outside... Everything takes less than 1 hour.

I'm in Portland. What was the good dealer and bad one? I'm supposed to go to NW Jeep on Friday. Feel free to PM me.

Re: FLASH: TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENHANCEMENTS (vehicles with 3.6L engine)

Had to go to dealer for "vehicle needs service" message anyway so I asked them to flash the tranny. Didn't have any issues with tranny but what the heck ... why not?

I'm glad that I did. What a difference!!! My GC is April build and initially I almost wanted to stop and check if they didn't swap my V6 for V8. To me difference is HUGE. I can really say now that V6 has more than enough vroom for me and I'm getting decent mileage on hwy. Awesome!

This site is fantastic. If not for the people here I would not know about this. Really worth the couple of dollars for being premium member and being supporter.

Now if they could only they fix the annoying remote start AC issue when the car doesn't go back to Auto.

Re: FLASH: TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENHANCEMENTS (vehicles with 3.6L engine)

Willx, need some advice. I've taken my Laredo twice to the dealership to get radio enhancement update and transmission update, only to have them say that "my car wouldn't take the upates". BS. I was able to manually do the radio update using the file here (thanks BTW!), so surely my car can take updates. I saw something in this post about the dealer having to hardwire the update as oppose to wirelessly doing it? The more info I have to give these guys that might help them make my baby run right, the better. Anything you might be able to tell me will help. Or I can just try another (much further away) dealer. Thanks!!

Do me a favour.... either post in one of the UConnect threads (unofficial or VIP on the radio stuff and I can give you the whole run down on the updates and how your clear got them.... if it is more transmission related please post here and I will answer what I can.

Just to keep the right info in the right threads because I know people sit and read some of these front to back in order to get all the info. Just keeps the threads on track,

Thanks!

I called back today again and was told the same thing. During the conversation I asked could she look up the TSB up by it's number. I gave her the number and she put me on a extended hold. Finally came back and said she had updated the computer and that is was for my vehicle. I have an appointment to have the TSB done.
All due to you posting the original TSB on Jeep Garage.
Thank you again!

Re: FLASH: TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENHANCEMENTS (vehicles with 3.6L engine)

Sorry for the confusion, Willx. It is indeed transmission based. Radio was done via USB by myself, but how is the transmission software updated? I just want to be able to counter any claims of "my car can't take the update" that the dealer may try to throw my way (as they have done twice already).

Right, sorry just wanted to make sure. 2014 GCs comments there are very typical. This in not a Recall so it does not get attached to your VIN. You are best advised to print off the TSB and refer directly to the number.

I do need to ask, because I do not see your vehicle info, you are driving a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 3.6L V6 correct? When did you take delivery?

Anything about them saying that they have not received the update from Chrsyler yet and or any other story about it not being available is simply not true. Also if you get some story that their system needs to be updated to do this update, it takes all of 15 minutes and they only need to do 1 WiTech PC to get this done.

Re: FLASH: TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENHANCEMENTS (vehicles with 3.6L engine)

Sorry for not stating (fairly new here), but yes I have a 2014 GC Laredo 3.6 that I got in early May, so it should definitely be covered. I did print the TSB out for the transmission fix, and that's when I got the "we tried to apply the updates but your car wouldn't take" response. I'll make sure they have updated their WiTech recently. Just frustrating being an IT professional that I could probably go to the bay, spend maybe 20 minutes looking at this stuff and apply the update myself (slight exaggeration).

Re: FLASH: TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENHANCEMENTS (vehicles with 3.6L engine)

I would, if this happens again, ask them to contact Jeep and ask for help. There must be some basis for communication between the dealer and corporate.
