I'll make sure they have updated their WiTech recently. Just frustrating being an IT professional that I could probably go to the bay, spend maybe 20 minutes looking at this stuff and apply the update myself (slight exaggeration).
Actually not far off, I can use WiTech it is fairly straight forward.

ONLY the Computer they are using to manage to POD ot STAR Scanner needs to be updated to the 14.01 WiTech version. They are supposed to be on this version not to risk loosing programming capabilites for other product as of Aug 10th. Any dealer not fully updated at this point is risking not being able to do a number of other things so this should be no brainer.

Before in eco, it seemed like you had to floor the pedal before it would kick down a gear so you could increase speed. Downshifts were also very rough, felt like a person learning a stick shift. Heavy traffic in eco mode was a night mare which involved lots of wide open throttle/slamming on brakes to stay with traffic...NOT ANYMORE!

With the update, the transmission performed great! Eco mode drives more like non-eco just more conservative...which is how it should be. No clunks, sluggishness or rough downshifts anymore. The throttle is more responsive now as well, most likely from being in the correct gear and downshifting like it should to increase speed.

I went to the dealer and showed them the TSB on my phone and 45 minutes later I was on my way back home. Very easy process for me.
Can't wait to take my 2014 overland in for the update. Absolutely love my new car, but the tranny is noticeable lurchy. Especially in low gears, and downshifts. For a 40k ride, it should be smooth. Really excited to feel the update. It really lunks like someone is learning how to drive shift. It's such a beautiful car from bumper to bumper, but how they missed this tranny issue coming off the line is a bit strange. The downshifting is hard on my neck and just unwieldy to drive . You take your foot of the gas to make a 90 turn on a green light at 20-30 or try to coast into a stop sign and it immediately and aggressively downshifts. Power off the line is weak too, like its missing the timing in the shifts, making you have to floor it to move. I always baby my car around to, so the aggressive movements make it harsh to drive, which is a shame since this thing is so beautiful.

I did try the battery cable removal and all to reset the brain, but I think the only cure is going to be this factory update. Glad this was posted. I bought my overland July 20, and have been reading these threads trying to see what others are doing. Will post more once I get the update.

Otherwise this is a gorgeous ride, and a lot of technology and luxury for the money. After deliberating between the limited with add ons, the overland without the adaptive cruise and blind spot tech pkg, the base overland came out on top. Love the 20s, pano roof, killer leather package, wood steering wheel, and cat eye lights.. Black on black, added some new tint, and negotiated a summit chrome grill on my purchase order. Love the ride, but lets get this transmission in gear. Pun intended.

Re: FLASH: TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENHANCEMENTS (vehicles with 3.6L engine)

well tonight new radio, continued radio problems...and a transmission reflash. If I had a TCM flash tonight according to the dealer, and a PCM flash last week...how come the car feels even better NOW when even after last week's reflash, the transmission felt better ?

Printed the TSB and took my JGC limited in today. Got the flash applied in less than an hour. Its a night and day difference for sure. Coasting without minor throttle adjustments is finally possible. I did not feel like getting rear ended either in slow traffic. This forum is just awesome... Thanks to all you guys for keeping this site up to date with all the info.

I had the trans flash done yesterday. Still clunks when coming to a stop sometimes. Still lurches forward some times. The downshifts are allitle less noticeable most of the time. It seems like the upshift into 2nd happens around 2000 rpm instead of 1200 rpm. Why does it act perfect half the time and the other half stinks.

Re: FLASH: TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENHANCEMENTS (vehicles with 3.6L engine)

I just called my dealer to see if I qualify for the TCM re flash and to get my build date. Now I am quite concerned... My build date was March 27 but the vehicle was "delivered onsite" to my dealer at the end of June. When I spoke with the service person on the phone she got very hesitant about telling me any info. and said "Oh there is lots of "notes" here for your vehicle." She put me on hold for a while then came back and said I could get the re flash. My question is what happened to my vehicle from March 27 till around June 27? Something seems fishy here. Does anyone here work for Jeep or a dealer that can answer this questions and has access to info on this vehicle?

Re: FLASH: TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENHANCEMENTS (vehicles with 3.6L engine)

it is perfectly normal for cars to take weeks to come from factory to the dealer. Especially early on, most of us who ordered the car also waited 2-3 weeks after the build had been confirmed. For non orders it could be longer

Supporting members of this site (level 3 and above) got to track their vehicle from build to delivery. Some spent quite a bit of time after being built while Jeep did some extensive quality inspections. Some were held to make repairs or change defective parts.

Ignorance is bliss. Before you knew the build date you weren't concerned.

Relax, better everything was made right before they delivered it to you.

Re: FLASH: TRANSMISSION SHIFT ENHANCEMENTS (vehicles with 3.6L engine)

I had the flash done yesterday. What a difference.

The 1st to 2nd shift point is much higher (close to 2k rpms), but still isn't perfect. The initial shift is not as smooth as other up-shifts. I did manage to get it to 'clunk' from 1st to 2nd, although, it does not happen as easily.

The real difference are in the downshifts. They are almost perfect. If it didn't have such harsh downshifts initially, I probably wouldn't even notice them now. No more cringing as you drive and are coming to a stop.

I think they are 90% of the way there, but could use a further fine tuning in the future. I would say I am mostly satisfied and glad they put this fix out.

This morning clunky. Just got home from work and it was mostly smooth. Don't know what to make of it . Maybe it has to relearn again after the update.
