Heavy traffic in eco mode was a night mare which involved lots of wide open throttle/slamming on brakes to stay with traffic...NOT ANYMORE!
With the update, the transmission performed great! Eco mode drives more like non-eco just more conservative...which is how it should be. No clunks, sluggishness or rough downshifts anymore. The throttle is more responsive now as well, most likely from being in the correct gear and downshifting like it should to increase speed.
I went to the dealer and showed them the TSB on my phone and 45 minutes later I was on my way back home. Very easy process for me.
Can't wait to take my 2014 overland in for the update. Absolutely love my new car, but the tranny is noticeable lurchy. Especially in low gears, and downshifts. For a 40k ride, it should be smooth. Really excited to feel the update. It really lunks like someone is learning how to drive shift. It's such a beautiful car from bumper to bumper, but how they missed this tranny issue coming off the line is a bit strange. The downshifting is hard on my neck and just unwieldy to drive . You take your foot of the gas to make a 90 turn on a green light at 20-30 or try to coast into a stop sign and it immediately and aggressively downshifts. Power off the line is weak too, like its missing the timing in the shifts, making you have to floor it to move. I always baby my car around to, so the aggressive movements make it harsh to drive, which is a shame since this thing is so beautiful.
I did try the battery cable removal and all to reset the brain, but I think the only cure is going to be this factory update. Glad this was posted. I bought my overland July 20, and have been reading these threads trying to see what others are doing. Will post more once I get the update.
Otherwise this is a gorgeous ride, and a lot of technology and luxury for the money. After deliberating between the limited with add ons, the overland without the adaptive cruise and blind spot tech pkg, the base overland came out on top. Love the 20s, pano roof, killer leather package, wood steering wheel, and cat eye lights.. Black on black, added some new tint, and negotiated a summit chrome grill on my purchase order. Love the ride, but lets get this transmission in gear. Pun intended.
