Flashlight battery dead

I just discovered today that the rechargeable flashlight's battery in my 2011 JGC is dead. I very rarely use it, but I'd still like it to function. Does anyone know if the battery can be replaced? I'd like to know before I try to pry it open and risk breaking it. Has anyone else had this issue?

Isn't it rechargeable right there by where you store it? I might be mistaken, it's been a while since I've had my GC.

Re: Flashlight battery dead

Also make sure it is stored in the holder with the switch off.

Re: Flashlight battery dead

The battery in my wife's Compass flashlight wouldn't hold a charge after two years. It's basically the same light as the GC's. You're better off getting a Mag-Lite and throwing it in your Jeep.

I agree.

I changed the battery in mine even though I carry a maglite for emergencies.

The flashlight case prys apart at the middle seam. It is kind of difficult, but mine came apart cleanly. It just snaps back together. If you can't find a battery at a dealership, you can order onlilne as 'Varta V 500 HT'.

Better than a MagLite is either a TerraLux LED conversion on the MagLite or one of their native flashlights. Bright... and much longer battery life.

...plus they are from my current city.
