Force A/C Recirculation On 24x7

2012 GC Overland, V8, Auto-A/C

This is the first car that I have owned where I could not have the AC in "recirculation" mode by default. Everytime I get in the car I have to turn it back on so that I don't smell the fumes from other cars.

In every other car that I have owned (and I currently have five in my driveway!), once you turned this feature on it stayed on till turned off -- even in my previous cars that had auto-A/C as my Cherokee does.

Does anyone know of a way to force recirculation on and have it stay on? I would assume this is a programming thing within the car....

Re: Force A/C Recirculation On 24x7

Recirc mode should remain where you left it last as long as the climate control is NOT set to auto I do believe.

I think thet recirc mode is also not allowed if you have the blower controls set to defrost...in that case the recirc light will flash when you press it.

Yes when in defrost you are right. But it will not stay on in any other mode, manual or auto. It stays on for a period of time and then goes off. It lways defaults to off when I start the car. That is so 1980s!

Page 404 of the 2012 Owner's Manual states, in pertinent part:
Quote:
When the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK
position or the ignition switch START/STOP button is
cycled to OFF, the recirculation feature will be
cancelled.

Gotta lay off those baked beans!

Re: Force A/C Recirculation On 24x7

From wathing it over the past week it seems to have a mind of it's own. Auto, manual, doesn't matter. If I turn on recirc it will cancel itself after a period of time while I am still driving.

Cherodude, I understand...had some chili myself last night and it was a long drive home!

Hard to believe that the wk2 doesn't have a way to keep recirc on. It seems that everything goes thru a master control system that must be adjustable.

Seems to be a Chrysler thing, cruise control does not latch on either and I remember that annoyance from the last century. Lawyers ?

My Oct 2011 built -2012 model CRD has the same issue tried everything to get it to stay on recycle as this vehicle seems to have an uncanny knack of picking up fumes from the cars in front of you.

I have no answers to the issue

Re: Force A/C Recirculation On 24x7

Mine stays on until I turn it off, except in modes that don't allow it. Always on when I start the vehicle.
