Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

My FCW system stopped working after about 1000 miles and Chrysler can't seem to fix it.

Anybody here have/had similar problems with their FCW? If so, what was the fix?

Thanks in advance,

Joe

Re: Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

I don't see where ENFORCER has an issue with the FCW. ACC seems to be the issue and another forum member assumed the FCW is probably not working too. I will post and ask about the FCW. Thanks, Joe

Re: Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

how do you even test the FCW without getting into a near accident?

The FCW works in conjuction with the ACC using the same module (radar) on the front of the car.

Not true. Although both systems share the same sensor, they are separate systems.

If you set it most sensitive you may get false alerts. Its not easy to test if its actually working, but there is a tree down the street that the FCW thinks is about to jump out in front of me and warns me to brake

Re: Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

Yeah I'm curious too. How do you just go out and be like oh my FCW doesn't work? The only way I would know is if I fly right up into a cars ass and it beeps, but it's certainly not something that goes off on a regular basis.

Re: Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

It's not too difficult to test as long as it's working properly.

You can approach a parked car and steer around it or apply the brakes later than you normally would/should and you will get the warning.

When a car in front of you is making a turn, you can continue towards it and steer around it at.

You can steer towards any obstacle such as a tree, building wall, guardrail, or anything of your choice for that matter.

If working properly, the warning will be in enough time to allow you to apply the brakes. If the warning doesn't allow enough time to apply the brakes, the FCW system would be useless.

Two things to keep in mind:

1. you must be going over 10 MPH.
2. You must not have your foot on the brake pedal during the test (FCW will be disabled).
