Re: Found Damage When Installing Tow Hooks
Figured I'd post a quick update for all of you about how this is all being handled.
I went to the dealership last Friday for 1) the service manager to take a look at the car and 2) to get the hitch wiring activated since I did the install myself. Prior to me even getting there, it seems as it was decided that they are going to replace the support beam. It's only held by a couple of bolts, so not really a big deal to replace. During the week, the service manager also checked my VIN to see if any shipping damage was recorded by the shipping company or anywhere in production, there was none. He also got in touch with his Chrysler rep during that week, which, I'm guessing, is when they decided to replace the beam. At that point they figured that the damage happened sometime during production and was just never caught. They are supposed to call me to schedule a time to bring it in once parts arrive.
As a bonus, he also activated my hitch wiring for free. Definitely not something I was expecting and not something that he had to do. At best I was expecting a discount since we bought a few cars from there over the past couple of years but he went ahead and did it for free. So kudos to him!
