Anyone have any idea if a fractured wheel (rear passenger) on a three month old WK2 would be covered under warranty? I was driving down I-85 and heard a loud BANG... pulled over, and a chunk of metal was missing from the wheel. Looks like it fractured at one point and flew apart. It's not the entire 'spoke' (I've got an Overland Summit), just a 1/2" thick, 2"x3" chunk from one of the spokes.. I really hope that chunk didn't hit anyone behind me..
There's no damage to the wheel other than that -- no dents or scratches, etc. I am positive I haven't hit anything that would do that (the fracture is a few inches from the tire).. The tire maintained pressure. I've already swapped the spare into its place... and man that thing is ugly (and the air pressure sensor module is annoyed).
Any idea if Chrysler will even consider covering it under warranty, or am I completely screwed and out $300?
