Re: FRee oil change have to pay tax?!?!?!

Again, another reason why you should change your own oil.

He lied. No way they would have his lead tech change oil, it would be like having a brain surgeon put a band aid on a skinned knee...

Re: FRee oil change have to pay tax?!?!?!

Just got my first oil change today at the dealer in Vegas. They sent me a coupon for a free oil change. It was absolutely FREE! The car went in with 4960 miles on it and interestingly enough, they put put a sticker in the windshield saying it was due for it's next oil change in 4000 miles, or 3 months, whichever comes first? Dosen't really seem to coincide with Chrysler's recommendation for 8000 mile oil change intervals.

Yeah its a recommendation not required i was told. I called them when I saw the sticker and was thinking WTF. I said the same thing and then when the customer care called me I gave them a 1. But I found the coupon and tax should be paid by them so I'm getting my $2.99 back.

For now on I will only be going to dealer with the service manager who actually tells me the truth. Its funny but this guy is very honest and tells me when stuff really isnt needed and what is over priced to the point when I should do it myself.

I forgot to mention in above post, we were passing through Vegas (don't live there) and stopped for the oil change. The service writer saw the out of state plates and asked if we were just passing through. When we said yes, we were headed for home in Utah, they took the car right in and did the service. It went straight from the service drive to a lift in the shop. We were on our way in 30 minutes. They'll get high marks from me on their service questionaire.

My dealer put a sticker up there for 3,000 miles...and that was with synthetic!
