Re: Friendly Advice ..Dont buy a 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland

I was secretly hoping you were going to talk about how the Forward Collision Warning does not alert and stop the car. What a let down. Definitely man ! Don't buy the 2014 ! Between the rough shifting transmission, the powerless V6 (against the mighty half a second faster V8) and a bad collision avoidance system - the entire world should generally avoid 2014 Grand Cherokees.

PS: 5500 miles later, including a 4000 mile trip over mountains and rivers, deserts and plains I have NOTHING BUT PRAISE for the 8 speed paired to the V6. Add in the FCW and ACC. They work flawlessly.

Re: Friendly Advice ..Dont buy a 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland

I just got back from another road trip to the hills of central PA. Loved getting off road through the woods on trails around a huge strip mine in the area. Also, loved the get up and go the V6 and 8 speed had when I had to pass tandem dump trucks and tankers on the narrow, curved, steep hills in the area. I was amazed I didn't have to put the pedal to the floorboard to get enough acceleration on some of those hills to pass.
Interesting note: The nav would warn me some of the roads were unverified, and allow me to select to continue from the warning screen, and still show those roads (trails) on the screen. I've heard the guys in OZ have some complaints about this.

I have seen this too... Some Camp Ground Roads and other non major roadways will show up this way. The poor Aussies will get that message trying to go from one place to another in downtown Sydney, which is really sad.

If you are happy after a trip like that, you obviously didn't push the Jeep hard enough. By now you should regret buying it.

This is only the problems that you hear about. Jeep has sold over 80,000 WK2s this year, more than any other CJF brand except the Ram pickup. That is interesting.

Unfortunately Eagleone this kind of thing happens with a mass produced product. I just hope CDJ comes through for you and corrects the situation.

But most planes get to crash only once, if at all.

Going to agree with Willx on the dealers. There are two bad ones within fifteen miles of my home, so we go to a really good dealership that is fifty miles away. For 'out of warranty' stuff, I have been going twice as far to a former (post-6/1/2009) Jeep dealer that still has some of the best Jeep techs (and SVC. Mgr.) around.

Pssst... someone might want to inform the WSJ the 2014's have been on sale since February, not coming this fall (unless they are secretly referring to the ectodiesel).
