Re: Fuel Door

the new charger/300 has a cap less fuel system, maybe the grand will switch to that for 2012 MY? I imagine we'll find out more about the '12 GC but i'm anxiously awaiting.

Why can't ALL manufacturers adopt the Citreon C4 method???? No cap, just pull the lever and the door opens, ready to fill!!!! FFS, it's 2011! lol[/IMG]
What are you saying, Marlin-- you must physically insert a key into the cap to unlock it?? That's crazy and I can assure you is not in keeping with the standard U.S. design (unless someone adds an after-market keyed gas cap of course)! I would never put up with that.

I was glad to see that the WK2's fuel door release button doesn't require the vehicle's electrical system to be lit up for it to operate.

The capless design should be adopted globally. I had never seen that before but it makes eminent good sense.

Re: Fuel Door

I live in nj and we aren't allowed to pump our own gas. Yes that's right we aren't lazy, there are signs on the pumps that say it is unlawful to pump your own gas. What got me scared or paranoid at least was the pics of the crease in the body metal from opening the fill door too far. So I watch the attendant very carefully after I pop open the door. And always he un screws the cap and let's it flop down and rub against the paint. It drives me crazy. I think I'm going to cut the tether from the cap so they have to put it on the pump itself. No I'm not worried about then forgetting to recap the tank since I always listen for the clicks before I pay.

Re: Fuel Door

My '06 GTO didn't have anything to hang the cap on at all. I used one of these. Seriously.

Ahh, got to love NJ... whenever I go home I dread getting gas for this very reason. I always tell the attendent make sure you hang the cap and don't let it touch my paint. He looks at me like im crazy, but listens. Then again, i'm only filling up in NJ 6-7 times a year.

Yeah mate, thats exactly what I'm saying. Old school insert ignition key into plastic cap garbage. Terrible. Wierdly, it's the same on Explorers over here too? Thats why I assumed it was a Yank thing.

Re: Fuel Door

Is there a fuel door manual release in case the push button release doesn't work?

Yes, it's under the storage bin cover on the driver side of the rear cargo area (where the flashlight is stored).

I'm totally doing that with my GTO. That has annoyed me for a while.
