Fuel door fell off

Title says it all......went to top off yesterday pushed the button it popped out, I moved it to get the pump in and it almost fell off in my hand. I wiggled it a bit more, heard something fall on the ground, retention spring.

Dealer ordered new assembly- won't be here till Thursday and I am out of town the rest of the week.

This on top of the engine oil sensor and the heat shield fasteners coming out.......In 3 weeks. ....

Re: Fuel door fell off

My fuel door is loose as well, haven't had a chance to get it to the dealer. They give you any problem with warranty?

Had this same thing happen. Hinge broke. Dealer had to order the part, but no issues with the warranty. They did say it was a PITA to replace though.

Ha......yeah.....I have 100 mph tape covering the filler neck as i am flying home tomorrow and it ll be in the airport deck.

As for problems......no.......they just laughed. .......I do know they are supposed to be changing to the durango style and material just not sure when. For installation, they have to drop the wheel liner. The e button goes away in 16MY so I hear to a push push as they have had soo many issues with it.

Re: Fuel door fell off

Just put our first tank of gas in our new Overland. It doesn't want to accept fuel except at the lowest flow setting from the pump. Our Limited did the same thing, but this issue fixed itself when they replaced the fuel door hinge. Looks like our first trip into the service department for this one.

I did... well, sort of. The flap broke that keeps the crap out. So I had to have that replaced. I actually did it myself. Went into the parts dept, got the filler head (the guy seemed really confused when I said it was warranty and walked away lol) The old neck top just pops out (turn counter clockwise about 1/2", then pull) popped the new one in.. gave it to the service guy. Thanks bye. lol

Just pull the nozzle about an inch back out. then should work fine

Re: Fuel door fell off

Tried that. Tried positioning the nozzle either further in or further out, turned at different angles, and even tried a different pump. Same result.

Re: Fuel door fell off

This must be a known defect. I had the same issue with the fuel door hinge on my 2014 GC Limited. The hinge broke and was replaced under warranty. Surprisingly enough, the dealer had the part in stock. While it was in being repaired they also re-flashed the software in my Uconnect and replaced the oil pressure sensor. Both of the two two latter repairs were the subject of service notices to the dealers.

Re: Fuel door fell off

My fuel door was loose, dealer replaced complete mechanism on warranty.
Nothing surprises me anymore:-)
Accura MDX is looking more attractive by the day and it's priced similarly...

Re: Fuel door fell off

That fuel door is part of the emissions system and emissions have a longer warranty than the 3 yr 36 mo.
