Fuel Pump Relay Recall didn't fix shut off, now what?

2012 Jeep GC Limited, 5.7L

Jeep shuts down while driving, usually after the first one or two decelerations after a cold start.
Fuel Pump Relay Recall just done, and problem happened 2x in last 5 days of getting it done.
Out of warranty now.

Any experience on correcting?

Did you have intermittent shut downs before the repair ? If not, then possibly a problem with the new part and/or installation such as a loose connection.

If the problem was present before the repair then a good chance you have another problem. The relay problem was associated with a complete failure of the relay vs an intermittent failure.

This worries me because I just had the pump recall done yesterday. I'll find out later today when I try it out on the freeway. I found if I filled my fuel tank to capacity then go immediately onto the freeway, slow down to go around an off/on ramp that the car stalls when I braked to slow down. If that happens today the service desk is getting a call.

[update] Not long after I wrote the above I refueled my tank to max and made the trip I normally take to stall the Jeep and, drum roll, nothing out of the ordinary happened and the Jeep behaved perfectly. Yay!

I just saw this thread. Are you still having problems? These are the exact same symptoms I was having, and they got more frequent as time went along. My service department had my JGC for about a month, and using data recorders determined that it was a faulty crank sensor. Apparently this causes the same symptoms as the fuel relay recall problem. I just got the Jeep back along with a data recorder to drive with for a while. If you experience another stall, PM me and I'll send you my chrysler case number.

Same problem. Had the recall done and Jeep shut off while driving yesterday. 4th time total has happened.... I contacted my dealership and the service advisor said wow it's like looking for a needle in a hay stack. We all know what that means. "Well if we can't duplicate the problem we can't help you. "

Re: Fuel Pump Relay Recall didn't fix shut off, now what?

Us old guys are starting to regret seeing all our old reliable mechanical parts being replaced with electronic crap that nobody knows how to fix, including the dealers. I want my gears and rods and levers back. I used to break down back then too but at least I could get it patched back together on the side of the road to get it back home so I could get a part and fix it right. We're in for some rough times ahead automobile wise.

Has your dealership had a chance to diagnose the vehicle beyond what the advisor told you on the phone? Please let us know if we can help set that up.

Re: Fuel Pump Relay Recall didn't fix shut off, now what?

If you do a lot of research it seems like the only true fix and the one chrysler should of done is to replace the TIPM with a new updated one and get rid of the crappy cheap chrysler fuel pump relay that only temporarily fixes the issue or not at all. i would not trust a vehicle that just shuts off while driving, way too dangerous. Good luck.

Crank Sensor replacement also did not fix mine.
