Modern openers are operating at around 300Mhz. Slightly older are at around 400Mhz.

Cordless phones and home wifi are all in the Ghz spectrums, so no problems.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I'm seeing the same issue. My homelink works fine during the day, but at night I need to pull right up to the garage door to get it to open. With the original remote, it 100' feet away day or night. The only thing I can think of is the CFL bulbs in my outside lights on my garage are causing interference or the headlights to my jeep are causing interference. Has anybody else seen this? I have reprogrammed the homelink and still have the same issue. I'll do some testing with the headlights off and with my house lights off to see if that improves the range.

Interesting theory. Can't wait to hear how you make out. Mine works day or night, headlights on or off, from the end of my driveway, approx. 120 feet. My floodlights are old style incandescent, with several on motion detectors.

Re: Garage door opener too short range

Still perplexed. This morning it wouldn't work until I was right up to the garage door and I had turned off all the outside lights to try and eliminate that. Tonight, I came home to an empty house and it worked fine. It's either a random problem, or something in the house that is usually on in the morning and at night causing the problem.

Re: Garage door opener too short range

Try pressing and holding button down, count to 2 or 3.
If I press the button quick it doesn't send a signal.

Re: Garage door opener too short range

Same problem here. My other cars open the garage door at 100+ feet. My 2014 GC will only open it from a maximum of 15 feet.

Ill make this brief incase you had thought about this already, if not i can def give you more details.
This happened to me in my 2010 Sequoia. LONG story short, there was 'interference' coming from my sons room above the garage. It was a sound machine. Only happened @ night when he was asleep. Never thought it was the car b/c it always worked other times.

Agreed, distance is def shorter in the jeep. But it doesn't bother me.

Re: Garage door opener too short range

I probably get 150' of range with my homelink - > Genie, adequate. Look to reposition your garage door antenna if possible. Do you have a landscape lighting controller/transformer in the garage?

Nope, no transformers of any kind in the garage. It didn't work this morning, so the interference is back. I'll do more experimenting with turning things in the house off. The family room is right next to the garage and a bedroom is over it. Could be a few different things. I guess quite a few things can cause interference around 300 MHz including led and fluorescent lights. Doing some googling even found the roku 3 box caused problems with garage door openers because of the wireless audio connection in the remote.

Unplugging it is what worked for me during the experimenting. Good luck. It took a while, but it was a great relief when i found it.
