This weekend I was putting on the Mopar pedal kit on my Gas and Brake pedal on my 2011 jeep Grand Cherokee and the Gas pedal broke off in my hand . I just pulled up on it slightly to slide the cover on and snap I was amazed The gas pedal was made out of Plastic . I happened to be very close to dealer and the service dept was open . I let it coast to dealer showed Service advisor and then mechanic came out and was dumb founded about the whole thing .They all looked like they seen a ghost . I laughed it off . the killer thing is there is no part in the system that can be shipped right now and need to call Chrysler to see if they can ship one . The service advisor said it could take 5- 10 days . She said she will see if they can over night it . Was wondering if anybody else had this happen to them .

There is no cable connected to a throttle body from the pedal. It is all now by wire (electronic) and a sensor on the pedal, sends a signal to the throttle actuator and does the opening and closing. With this setup the ECU can take over the throttle position for things like Cruise control and stability control

Thats bad, I've usually got stories like that. My pedal experience is not nearly that bad, I had the retaining lugs on the pedal cover snap off, they hardly had any flex in them at all, ended up using silicone to hold it there... leaves me wondering about the authenticity of my Ebay pedal covers....Hope your replacement shows up soon!

So 5-7 days to getting it back, and then the next day you get it back after you dropped it off. Not to bad I'd say! where did they find the piece?

By the way, didnt you technically break the piece? Luckily your dealer isn't a hard @$$ and they covered it under warranty!!! Not that it probably is expensive but still.

I have not looked at my Jeep's pedal but often times the pedal is sold as a whole assembly with the drive by wire vehicles so they can cost several hundred dollars.

yes it is one piece with electronics in side the upper part as it is part the the electronic throttle control . They didn't blame me as they discovered the plastic had other cracks (hairline) Just for lifting up on the pedal should not brake it off . You need to lift it up to remove and install Mats or what about Vacuuming . Im sorry but don't say I broke it as I did something I shouldn't . Gas pedals should not brake off in your hand I don't care how much you pull on them. It was not the actual pedal it was the what the pedal attacks to .
